You can still scissor the head with an arm. It is draping scissors call only if there is something between the head and legs (shoulder, arm) and there is NO PRESSURE TO THE HEAD/NECK AREA! I could not see if there was any pressure though. He did cross his ankles and apply pressure there so I would probably assume that there was some pressure to the head/neck area also because this will most likely cause the wrestler to straighten his legs.

You would yell if you were getting robbed and screwed just let them wrestle and stop controlling the outcome
typical st eds fans & coaches - they try to bully the refs every time a match doesn't go their way. didn't work (finally) last year at state either

A big match like this and the perimeter never gets 3ft. from wrestlers. Wow, if this is the best Ohio can do on officials then they are hurting. To top it off the perimeter made a bad call in that, the Edwards kid had a draping scissors with the arm in there!

you can have a scissors on the head form the nuetral posistion. As soon as the defensive wrestler starts to pull the neck backwards over the offensive wrestlers body it is illegal. I dont agree with the call but this is the new national rule that they have put a point of EMPHASIS on(for safety of the kids). The crappy thing about it is that its a discretion call just like stalling.

Horrible call.

What kind of rules do u people make up? U cannot EVER scissor the head with or without the arm. Draping scissor is the exception but there has to b no pressure. U can't figure 4 the head from the neutral position. U CAN figure 4 the head with or without the arm any other time! Geez.

Just watched the rest of the match and that is a horrible call. I'm a Stephens fan, because they are great kids and seem to be a great family, but the referee really took the outcome of this match out of the wrestlers hands. I cannot believe that call was made. I'm not from Ohio and have to think they would send the best officials in the state to call this match. That was bad and you hate to ever see a match end this way. Martin handled himself on the mat well from what I could see on the video and you have to give him props for that. Who knows what happens if the match continues, but he has to feel robbed.

You cannot scissor or figure four from the neutral position to defend a shot. If you are on the mat wrestling in the referee's position you can use a scissor with the arm in or you can figure four the head in a pinning combination. It was a good call, but it was done very strange. The assistant official called it and it looked like the official actually calling the match had no clue.

Just because Stephens took horrible shot after shot does not mean Martin was stalling..Clearly Stephens had wrist/inside control and therefore could just take crappy shots to make it look like he was being really offensive..there was not set up, no angle, and no attempt to actually score with those shots....you have to let the wrestlers decide a match like that...

He was stalling, no doubt.

bad timing on call , he just went to a knee or half hearted shot , then blew the whistle .only 5 secs. on clock left in o.t. , shoulda went another period.

Real classy St. Eds fan yelling "That's Bull!" at the end of overtime. They were crying about every little call that didn't go their way. I can't imagine how they would have acted had they lost the dual meet. Classless!

You can scissor the head with a ARM in and the ARM was in clearly they just gave the match to Stevens merry Christmas

I am not a ref but it appears that a whole bunch of people screaming stalling (especially the refs) can really influence a ref to call it where he otherwise would not.

that was just pitiful....the stall calls where just horrible. Why didnt the ref just give him the match...HORRIBLE

i dont think it was locked hands, it was a scissor on the head. ref signals by putting both hands behind his head for illegal move

1st period: how does martin get called for locked hands when they were in neutral?
