Giving my guess at every weight here goes;
1)McDonough
2)Waters
3)Sanders
4)Bedelyon
5)Mango
6)Perrelli
7)Delgado
8)Mele
Mango is the bracket buster here....

Don't see McD losing to anyone in this tournament. As much as I was hoping Sanders would come out on top this yr, McD has proven himself w/ Sanders and beaten Delgado twice since losing to him early in the season. Sanders would have to do the Mark Perry vs Johnny Hendricks in order come out on top in this tournament. IMO

Dude 1 year ago

Whos that Jarrard guy? What does he do back there?

McD beats Waters in the final for his second title! (Delgado gets Sanders for third)

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

So why is it that the Minnesota fans think if Delgado were to beat MCDonough that is a sure lock for Sanders to win. How soon they forget that Delgado was actually up 11-4 on Sanders heading into the 3rd period when he started wrestling like the freshman he is and lost 14-13. And Sanders two close matches with Waters prove him beating Waters will be no cake walk either.

now i'm a Iowa fan, have been for years, but I got a feeling Sanders is going to pull the upset.

Dominic DeMarco 1 year ago

I agree, McDonough needs to lose before the finals for Zanders(combo name) to walk away with the title. He just cant get this guy out of his head!!! Now we would all love an epic tale of redemption if Zanders wrestles him one final time and comes out victorious(OT or Decision). But Realistically its Nationals I want some of Dark Horses to mess up the pre-seeds and set the table for this tournament. Its going to be a Barn Burner znd the McDonough has the Kerosine.

You are aware that nick soto is in a completely different weight class right

Anonymous Coward 1 year ago

soto beats delgado first round. mcdonough beats whoever in the semis and spanks waters in the finals.... you read it here first

Are you going to be doing the real march madness bracket competition? Something for the wrestling fans to get excited about....

Delgado beat Perrelli 8-3

Totally underestimating Waters. Finalist for sure this season. He knows Sanders' tricks now and almost had him in the last match up.

125- Team Impact

-Penn St- Megaludis (#10) losing to Mele (NW) last week has big implications in the team race as
the talented freshman drops from a potential 5-7 seed all the way down to 10th. While his road would
have been easier as a 5 or a 6 seed it isn’t impossiple where he landed. Unfortunately he drew a very
tough 1st round opponent that could pull an upset, but even if Megaludis does pull one out Bonus points
will be difficult. He has a winnable 2nd round match against a higher seeded Patterson (OK) that could
be coming off of the Pigtail effect (Wrestling below average due to having the extra match), and a
quarterfinal matchup with Sanders isn’t horrible for the Lions. Penn St. can afford for Megaludis to fall
short of the podium as long as Alton, Wright, and Wade don’t also falter so there is some margin for
error. Prediction: R12
- Iowa- While nothing can ever be considered a “lock” in wrestling (see Metcalf/Caldwell or
Taylor/Jenkins) this is the closest thing Iowa has to a lock in the tournament. Because Iowa has so many
opportunities to underachieve at other weight classes, they cannot afford to have McDonough (#1)
finish below his seed. Anything short of a National Title from McDonough will be the end of the Hawks
chances at a team title. He has potential pitfalls in the quarters against Mango (Stan) and the semis
against the one guy that has given him fits this year, Delgado (ILL). Prediction: 1st Place
-Minnesota- Sanders (#2) has to be delighted to see Delgado on the opposite side, not because
he himself is worried about a match against Delgado, but because he knows that is the best shot to
get his nemesis out of the way before the finals. I firmly believe that once you get to 0-7 against an
opponent you would be very grateful for someone else to do the dirty work. Minnesota is in a similar
position to Iowa at this weight in that they need Sanders to wrestle to his seed, he is the best chance for
the Gophers to have a finalist and they will need one, maybe two in order to win the team title. No easy
matches for Sanders in the bracket, but he should comfortably make it into the semis against a tough
Waters (MIZ), that he has already beaten this year in the finals of the Southern Scuffle. Prediction: 2nd
Place
- Oklahoma State- Not a horrible draw for an unseeded wrestler, but not the greatest draw
either, however what can you expect if you aren’t seeded. The Cowboys are a little behind the eight ball
and will need for some of their wrestlers to outperform their seeds if they want to win the team race.
While Morrison will have the chance to pick up a couple of wins he will ultimately run into the loser of
the 7/10 match in the conso rounds. Where Morrison could really help is if he could turn his 2 wins into
bigger points by picking up bonus in one or both of his matches. The Cowboys don’t need Morrison to
pick up big points but they really need him to avoid getting shut out, and avoiding a first round upset
loss to the sneaky quick Gravely is the 1st step to that. Prediction: 2-2
- Cornell- The Big Red is a long shot to win the team title, but the parity in college wrestling
today says that we have seen stranger things happen. However, for Cornell to win the Team title they
will need a couple of people to wrestle above their seeds, and 125 might be the best spot for this to
happen. The veteran Perrelli (#6) has a tough front side draw with the dangerous Spjut (VT) first round,
followed by #11 seed Nelson (VA) in round 2, only to have a quarterfinal date with #3 Waters (MIZ).
If Perrelli can make his way to the quarters his backside draw is manageable to put him high on the
podium as a matchup with Morrison (OK) or Megaludis awaits in the conso quarters and a winnable
match against either Bedelyon (KST) or Delgado (IL) in the conso semis (He better hope McD makes the
finals). Prediction: 7th Place
