I have talked to many officials across the nation...be warned...Refs started this year, and next year they are going to stop the match and call a fall if you are in danger. "Tapping" is in no rule book. I have seen wrestlers at all levels say they were "chocking" or "I can't" breath while tapping. Do yourself a favor and just go to back. |

No one passed out from the turn last year. If you have proof, please post it. |

does pain turn a individual red last time i checked it did. if a guy is tapping bc of a choke he got maybe 1 -2 seconds to stay awake then he will be out. lester tapped for 10 seconds or more and didnt show any signs of unconsciousness. And if you ahve ever been nearly choked up your pretty fuzzy and unstable after the fact. It actually feels better just to get put out. |

To paraphrase Dave Schultz following controversy surrounding his front headlock, "They are turning wrestling into a sport.". It is not a choke, it is called legal persuasion. Need I mention he has an arm in there? |

Not a Choke
Spates is wrong, I understand he is just trying to protect his wrestler but he's wrong. Lester wasn't coming out the back, if you watch Fleming you know that is where he seats his opponent to pull of the reverse headlock. Its not a choke either, its just a really tight grip around your jaw/head, feels like your head is getting crushed, but you can breathe no problem. |

Of course, anyone who says this move is a choke can't know anything about it. I guess the only people who know about it are fleming defenders. I've seen fleming use it in several matches. Last year at nationals he nearly ripped Kyle borshoff's head off with it, until a referee who understood how dangerous the move was stopped the match. You either go, or you pass out, unless the ref stops the match. Also, fleming surely isn't the only wrestler to use this particular ride -- but he's the wrestler who uses it so forcefully it either results in a choke or points for him; others who use the ride don't use it so much as a choke as they do a stall ride. And it is a fantastic stalling ride - once it is in place, you are pretty much unable to extricate yourself. Refs have to be more aware of it as a stalling ride, and as a potential choke. |

Casper saying the ride is a stall is a joke right? Cause he works his butt off with it and puts him self in a position to win the match trying to turn, or lose like he did. Also by your choke comment shows that you don't know anything about this move. Please show me where this is illegal and if so, why he is not penalized? |

jaw bone

The grip is on the jaw. Fleming has used this for 15 years and has never knocked anyone out. The pressure is right on the hinge on the jaw, trust me I have been in it. My air way was not stopped but my jaw felt like it was going to break. |

Fleming's ride is either a stall, or a choke. Its time the refs, other than at nationals (where they did stop his matches for this illegal move) start paying more attention to it. |

The move by Fleming is a choke. Spates absolutely did the right thing by going out and stopping the match. Its not his fault, or Lester's, that the refs can't spot that. The defense of this move, that it isn't cutting off air, is utter nonsense. Fleming uses that pressure to submit the other wrestler -- Lester actually seemed to be tapping out at one pt. |

This is not a new move. Cathell used it at the Hokie open and there was no issue with it. I don't know what the deal is with Spates rushing out on the mat. He should have been tossed! Guess when you 'HOST' the event you can do what you want... |

James has done this to me many times, he is not EVEN close to cutting off the air way. the pressur is on the jaw by your ear. watch the kid as spates stopps it he is't grabbing his throat or trying to breath like he was choking. |

clarion kid move is illegal, you can't cut a guys airway and if opponent is tapping bc he can't breathe ref must stop, |

Spates looked like an elementary Dad running onto the mat to save his son from a loss. The ref was in position and looking for the potential choke and didn't stop it but Spates did. The only person penalized by Spates shenanigans was Fleming. |

thats bull**** that spates goes running out on the mat like that pushing around the ref and stopping the match. He should be thrown out right then and there, than fined befor he is allowed to coach again. CRAZY CRAZY that could of ended up in back points and HE stopped it. Crazy! |
