Here's what it is. PA is unique because we have a huge population with many schools and almost every one has a wrestling team. Like NY, OH, and VA we are large population states and cold winter states. The difference with PA and OH, and getting closer in VA, is wrestling interest. When states with large populations garner interest in a sport like wrestling you have something special - like PA. The kids in these states, culture wise, are the same, the primary difference is the kinds of programs these kids are involved with, and PA has huge and highly supported programs. I'm not knocking the rest - I wish these programs existed everywhere! I'm just saying that across the board NY hasn't developed dominant programs yet, great wrestlers, but not dominant programs - but they have potential!
