We Aren't That Good 3 years ago

He simply points out reasons as to why the US is no longer has the best freestyle and greco-roman wrestlers. Stay in your delusional fantasy world where the Iowa style of folkstyle wrestling produces World and Olympic champs. In the real world that we live in folkstyle is only producing World and Olympic chumps.

Get a life, the wrestlers at the Olympic Training center don't get paid to train there. These wrestlers sacrifice their lives to accomplish their goals and any time they can wrestle and make money it helps their training. You don't hear any other US wrestlers trying to go and train with the best wrestlers in the world. It's people like you who hurt American wrestling with your negative attitude.

This guy is a clown he was sweating during the interview you know. Why doesn't he just move to Russia and live in the mountains you know. All he cares about is money you know. He smells you know.

Outstanding interview with Hrovat. He offers an outstanding critique as to why US wrestlers aren't as dominant as wrestlers from Russia and the former Soviet satellite countries.

The Iowa style that the Brands bros. espouse is enough to get things done at the college level, but it just don't pack the necessary punch needed at the international level. Granted some could argue that Cejudo is a prime example of how Brands can get someone to the next level, but lets not forget that Cejudo did not waste 4 years of his career messing around with folkstyle.
Say what you will about folkstyle, but it is an obsolete manner to get our athletes prepared for dominance in the international scene. More emphasis needs to be placed on freestyle here and like Silent H mentions we need to have everyone on board with a centralized system to produce many champions here on our home soil. Added to that is some form of financial incentive for international style wrestlers. You can wrestle and make a decent living at it in Russia, but here, well you need some very wealthy relatives or be willing to sacrifice a lot or work full time and that doesn't equate well to being a World or Olympic Champ.
