Calling it early: Metcalf gets upset at NCAA's, doesn't make it to the finals. |

I'm sure Metcalf will look at that two on one that slowed him way down. |

Everyone talking about how tough LeValley is keeping myself at a loss. He was only "in" the match because he took away all his offense and did nothing but prepare to defend the barage of metcalf's attacks. Kudos to him for managing to stalemate, flee, and nearly counter Brent's offense, but without offense of his own, he can't depend on countering when someones in deep to beat the best. Metcalf was dominant on the feet, just being mitigated. I expected a more even match from the score, but LeValley was close to scoring once, off of a weird scramble situation. You can't score if someones going to use the tie to make it so you can't attack. This match was just disappointing to watch someone wrestle so it looks good on paper, and not wrestle to win the match. You can say "thats his only chance is to keep it close" but how about working something into some offense on the feet rather than stalling with a russian..What rediculous thoughts. Levalley kept the match close and spent the final moments with Metcalf on the defensive(stalling) attacking and in on the leg. He kept himself in the match, kept pace, and at the end was trying to win. |

6:51 LeValley was 4 finger nails away from win. Metcalf could not finish on him. great shot defense with the ankle wizzer. looks like another exciting year at 149. |

Ok... LeValley was a Fargo Champ a few times. Big whoop considering Metcalf won Fargo like 6 times! |

I actually just watched the whole match for the first time and Kevin did a great job of keeping Metcalf off of his head. Metcalf does such a great job of smoothering guys and controling the head. He is so physical on his feet and I love his style. Kevin is a great Greco wrestler and he was able to Russian off the arms and control the wrists. I love this match for LeValley and he is showing how tough he can be. He was a 4x Colorado state champion and a multiple Fargo Champion in Greco. It looks like he is really stepping it up in his College wrestling also. That was very close on that takedown that he was not able to finish. Great match for both guys. I think these matches are huge also for Metcalf. |

LeValley did exactly what he had to do to give himself a chance to win. I tell my wrestlers a lot of times when they are going up against a superior wrestler, "to make it a one move match". You have to give yourself a shot to win. I know Kevin very well and this is not how he would like to wrestle anyone, but it is the only way for him to wrestle Metcalf. I have some very good wrestlers that also know, this is how they are going to get wrestled a lot. It is the reality of the sport. Sometimes you have to give yourself a shot to win. Other times, you have to keep points off the board for the team. Kevin did a great job and gave himself a shot at winning this match. It is not a fun match to watch for the Metcalf fan, but they might have to get use to it. |

Metcalf looked sluggish and distracted. On the other hand, LaValley has beaten #6, #15, & #20 this year.(To answer Red Dog) This was his first loss. |
