Awful call at the end of the match. Great Merkle for the 2 but to hold onto it for 30 or so seconds without a stalling or stalemate is pretty bad. Also, the leg came out on the Merkle at the very end before the buzzer. That concludes the move and thus a loss of control. 1 point - Neutral. |

Telford's first (and probably only) loss as a heavyweight... horrible officiating though not calling stalling or a stalemate |

This was a very poorly reffed match. Aside from the questionable reversal given in the third period, consider this. The guy who eventually won the match simply hung on to a reverse front headlock for the final 30 seconds of the match without making any effort to improve the position or apply a pinning combination. That is the textbook definiton of stalling; it doesn't matter that the other wrestler is struggling to free himself from the lock, the offensive wrestler has the obligation to improve his position. It's no different than hanging on an ankle. The offensive wrestler should have been cautioned for stalling and they should have gotten a fresh start far before the end of the match. Very sad that the refs of a quality tourney like that simply ignored the rules. |

No change, no points...Stalemate or stalling should have been called on the offensive wrestler. He was allowed to hold onto the merkle with no improvement for 45 seconds. Nothing had changed in the last 4 seconds to show that a loss of control had occurred. |

If a ref doesn't feel confident enough during the match to give the points, he shouldn't be awarding points after the fact without fully conferencing with the other official(s). Great match between the two. We need more heavyweight matches like this. |
