MERKEL
MERKEL!!! MERKEL!!! MERKEL!!! I absolutely love the merkel, no one knows it so no one expects it. the only negative is that I had a bad ref in the state finals who didn't give me back points from a merkel because he didn't recognize it. i ended up losing in overtime and getting second. still a killer move though. |

okay they both wrestled 12 matches. so it comes down to stamina and who has more heart is what your saying. they came on the mat with the same idea not whose more tired but who wants to win more. fleming obviously wanted it a little more, Yates got him self in that position to allow fleming to initiate and execute that move. never blame it on how many matches one has wrestled or choking or anything like that you put yourself there as a wrestler and theres ways to not be put into such a position. i hate when people pull that line. |

You guys are harsh. Fleming is a great wrestler. He lost to the #1 ranked wrestler in the nation by one point at his respective state meet. He his at that level. Yates wrestles at the lowest division in Michigan and the easiest. He will admit that. But you can't take anything away from Yates. He has beaten top ranked kids and deserves his ranking. The top 5-10 guys at 160 could all beat each any given day. It was a long tournament for both guys. And I can tell you that Fleming was choking the crap out of Dan. It was legal, but Dan could barely move his neck the next day. Fleming is a great wrestler and deserved to win, but when this is your 12th match of the tournament and you go against a kid of that caliber in Fleming on top, you will have no energy after most of your oxygen is cut off for 5 out of the 6 minutes. |

similar but similar isn't the same move. Fleming used that move against Johnstone of Ohio State at the buffalo open and wasn't called. also against lamancusa 2x D2 allamerican wasn't called. this being at a college tournament. your points are horribly made. you basically have stated because someone shoots more they are a better wrestler. if ones defense to a persons shot is better then that persons shot i'm sorry but they can shoot all day, which is proven in this match. yates needs some secondary offense after the shot which he shows he lacks. also maybe alot more improvement on bottom. Fleming lacks a shot ok.. great defense, great on bottom, great on top.. one flaw is better then two |

If you reread my post, I said that the move never was considered choking in high school. The college refs often viewed it differently, however. Try using this great resource that if Flowrestling and look for some of Nick Simmon's matches and then tell me if it is basically the same move. |

The "East Lansing Strangler" ride is the ride/turn/pinning combination that Nick Simmons has always used. Nick Simmons was a 4x, undefeated MI state champ who had something like 180+ pins in high school, most of which were with that same move on top that Fleming uses. Simmons was also a 4x AA at Michigan State. The pins didn't come as easy in college because NCAA refs would call him for "choking" whenever he went to that ride/turn. Fleming's turn is effective, but certainly not "original". |

east lansing strangler ride??? pretty sure thats an original move. 3x michigan state champ is a great quality to have but goes to show you how much tougher PA really is. I mean this match wasn't even close it was dominated by fleming. I don't know what match you were watching. A. in college fleming gets another point for riding time so the match is even further. the 2 at the end was kind of given up. so realy this match wasn't even close from start to end. |

well the way i see it is if u watch alot of college wrestling they dont shoot a whole hell of alot. most takedowns come from short offense. which fleming is great at. he does need to shoot more but he already has the intensity of a college wrestler which can be harder to learn than anything |
