I agree with metcalf, Caldwell won fair and square but what he did with time still left on the clock is unacceptable. Caldwell should have kept on wrestling and not run and do a back flip during the match, its ok to do this after the match but when you are doing this during the match it just shows you how much class Caldwell has, 0. |

That was a smart and respectable move by Martin to move back from filming Metcalf after Metcalf explained how he felt and how he regrets the loss. To put that much work into the season, and lose that one match it is hard, I'm a wrestler and I know. I would have teared up, and I could tell Metcalf was taking it real rough at the moment. Good move Martin. |

comment #464 is a and if he honestly thinks that he is just another one of those uptight fags that thinks every rule in th book needs to be followed perfectly without any mistakes and metcalf is a rolemodel he is one of the hardest workers in college wrestling and and go ahead and look at the replay just because darion starts celebrating doesnt meen the match is over there was still time on the clock |

Everybody knows that Metcalf will push his opponents out of bounds if his opponents are letting themsleves go out of bounds. There was STILL time on the clock, Metcalf was doing what he always did to his opponents. Hell, Johnny Hendricks did the same to his opponents. BOTH are great wrestlers. I look forward to a great rematch someday-IT WILL HAPPEN!!! Mark my words. |

i will garantee that metcalf wins the ncaas next year and wont even have a match within 10 points of anyone. he was already the hardest worker in the ncaa before this. now he has a fire that noone will be able to put out. next year he will win either at149 or 157 it doesnt matter. he is the greatest. |

"In a split second after the whistle, my momentum carried me into Darrion's celebratory back flip. My reaction was a result of self defense and partly, frustration. I want to extend my congratulations to Darrion for his championship." -Brent Metcalf |

Metcalf made a mistake, the excuses he's making make him look pathetic. To the poster who responded to my previous post regarding the all start match - what difference does it make? My point was Metcalf fanboys will point to the all star match that didn't count and say the national championship was a fluke. Clean up you act and your name, you appear childish. |

Metcalf needs some professional counseling before being allowed back on the mat. His behavior and mentality are not good for the sport -- especially given that many colleges are seriously considering cutting wrestling. What Metcalf did was potentially very dangerous, illegal, and outright childish. Metcalf is supposed to be a college-athlete setting the example for others to follow. The NCAA finals was a terrible example. And if you go to the match on youtube and read the comments, you will see that many Iowa fans not only support this poor behavior, but they also toss off racial slurs as if they were somehow justified. Somebody ought to write the president of the University of Iowa and inform him that his constituents need training in basic human decency. Maybe I will... |

Metcalf is god. Caldwell is a black hood rat that wins fluke matches & stalls the whole time while doing so.So the pin last year was a fluke also? He stalled his way to how many takedowns? If you want half an argument you could say it is a styles conflict. You don't fluke your way to an undefeated season and a national title and beat the "best college wrestler in america" along the way .My mistake ,dominate not just beat.I did like Metcalf and I do like Iowa but I will root against him from now on.The only thing he is sorry about is that he is catching so much flack about it. The team should have lost more than one team point. Can't wait to see Caldwell dominate him again next year(maybe spladdle him again),if Metcalf actually stays in the same weight class as Caldwell. But, if he (Metcalf) wants his second NCAA title he won't.Congrats to Troy Nickerson of Cornell .You made section 4 and New York proud. |

congrats(post # 1)cry me a river. you dont think that every wrestler sometime has had a small mental lapse that would cause them to act in this way...trust me if metcalf wanted to he would have sent caldwell wel over the side of the platform. i think metcalf restrained himself and hanleded himself just fine. as for you and your son im sorry that you two are that ignorant to just throw such a good rolemodel under the bus and compare him to a person like chris brown |
