In maybe the biggest upset this decade, Darrion Caldwell upsets Brent Metcalf in a stunning fashion. Here Flo Worley gets the first interview after Caldwell's victory.

only reason he redshirted is because hes scared of metcalfmakes sense, cause metcalf is the one who's only two losses are from caldwell... |

all this talk is ridiculous. caldwell beat metcalf fair and square, in front of all of us. iowa fan or not, you cant really argue three takedowns and a 5 point decision. and as far as the backflip, who the heck cares?! it didnt affect the outcome of the match and idk about any of you, but if i was coming in as the underdog and beat metcalf for the title, i would be pretty excited too. quit lookin for something to about. |

For all of you haters, Caldwell began talking about redshirting the moment after winning it all, and his reasons? 1. to focus on Freestyle, which he did pretty well in this summer, 2. Get better ( tells you he knows and respects Metcalf, knowing that he would be gunning for him) and 3. he was talking about maybe moving up to 157 lbs after the redshirt which would give him the time to get big enough. Caldwell wasnt dodging Metcalf, he is a GREAT wrestler, Iowa fans just admit it, and for you naysayers, I was rooting for Metcalf in the Finals, but after Caldwell won he earned my respect for beating someone who was thought even by me to be the next great thing in college wrestling. I wish they would have met again this year, but it wont happen and Metcalf will run away with the Championship. GO HAWKEYES!!!! |

metcalf will win if they meet again. caldwell beat him once and cought him on his back once. when metcalf physically dominated him winning by tech. if you people forget a tech is beating someone so bad that you need to end the match early and caldwell could NEVER do that to metcalf. everyone knows it and people that dont agree are just metcalf haters. |

of course you want to be at your best in the ncaa finals but metcalf clearly wasn't at his best and that's why he didn't win. in addition, when he was pinned against caldwell last year it was very questionable and its safe to say that if he survived that period, metcalf had a very very good chance of winning. i believe metcalf would beat caldwell 6-7 out of 10 times |

i still think metcalf is the better wrestler despite being 1-2 against caldwell. when caldwell pinned metcalf the first time, it was a questionable pin and it didn't look like metcalf's shoulder blades were even touching the mat. but that is my opinion. but for metcalf to tech fall caldwell and completely dominate him shows that when metcalf is at his best, no matter how well caldwell is wrestling, metcalf should win. i think metcalf has all the tools to be an olympian someday and i believe caldwell only wrestled the match of his life in the ncaa finals. but we'll see what happens. hopefully these two wrestle the same weight next year and we see a rematch...When is it most important to be at your best? Hmmm...........How bout the NCAA Finals. It is what it is. If Metcalf ever wanted to win a match I am sure it would be the finals of the NCAA Championships you do not get to the finals by luck Caldwell has Metcalf's number just as much as Metcalf has his. He Metcalf whooped up on Caldwell in a match that did not even count on there records. And in the NCAA finals, when it did count, well he just simply got out wrestled on the biggest stage. It shows that their is a butt whooping for everybody. |

People need to get off this "act like you have bean there before" stuff. The truth is he had not bean there before, and he may never be there again. Ask Danaho and Escibido at 125, ask Pacillo, ask Gillespe, ask Metcalf, ask Leen, all champs who fell short this year, or how bout poeta, twice runner up. There are only 10 guys who do this a year, and usually 1 or 2 are doing it again (Jaggers, Herbert) so yes he has every right to celibrate the greatest moment of his life. What his matches on here and youtube, he wins, and Loses with class. He was excited for this win because it is what every wrestler dreams about from day 1. Congradulations your an NCAA champ and will be forever. |

Metcalf better take his own advise and take adavantage of the "room for improvement" in his wrestling because at his current "skill level" he is not going to be qualifying for let alone winning any Olympic matches. His "conditioning level" is pretty good, his intensity is good, but Darrion showed Brent what really matters most, and thats "Strategy and Technique"... just ask the Russians. |

caldwell is boss

big fan of metcalf. didnt show sportsmanship but he is the hardest working wrestler in the country. these 2 are hands down the best wrestlers in the country weight class or no weight class. been watching caldwell since nj states and that backflip is incredible.. he gets higher than metcalfs shoulders. people should stop ing about the outcome and respect the win and anticipate the next meeting! cant wait |
