25 years ago! This bout between 2 world champs had more action than any three bouts today. Our rule changes (freestyle) have not had a positive effect on wrestling. The wrestlers weren't necessarily supermen, but the rules have made everyone into a "strategic" wrestler. Translate that as a terrific handfighter that shoots a takedown once per period.

1986 World Champ Khazar Isaev takes on former 2x World Champ Viktor Alexeev at the famed 1987 T'Bilisi Tournament in Georgia, USSR.

A great match between 2 former World Champions: Isaev is the defending World Champ, winnign the 1986 Worlds in Budapest. Alexeev won the 1983 & 1985 Worlds. At this point Alexeev is getting up there in age at 31. Isaev is only about 24.
In this match we see Isaev's explosive power. Both are great handfighters. Isaev is just a little sharper here.
Enjoy.
