Great match; great wrestling. Glad it was posted.

I think Adam Satiev is a better wrestler than his bro for about a 3 year span. He just didn't have the longevity.

At 8:21 Satiev Scored with the Back door counter. Everything after that was a wash it was over but you cant see official. The Ref has both arms out signally that it is over before Cuban keeps wrestling but the match is Over.

what a match. NEAT to say the least

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

The cuban thought he won, the russian thought he lost and the ref had no idea what to do.
Also, that match was anything but boring. 2 elite guys getting after it is almost always fun. Mat wrestling is what slows down matches and what the general population gets bored with.

freestytle sucks 2 years ago

This match is a great example of why freestyle is boring and the the refs have to much control. No mat wrestling and whoever gets the points rarely have control. The rest of the world should wrestling folk.

bigtime 2 years ago

my mistake, missed the takedown at 8:20...still a questionable one in my opinion

Caleo 2 years ago

bigtime...watch the end again. The final scramble results in Saitiev clearly getting the take down. Watch in slow mo if needed, but Adam scored first.

confused 2 years ago

im very confused about the end. can someone explian all those calls and what the decesions were after the match?

romeros a monster

big time 2 years ago

robbery..twice in one match.
3rd point was for being passive..understandable but, questionable.
last scramble no way saitiev got anything

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

:56 Saitiev almost gets super ducked by a giant in Romero.

The call in OT is correct IMO. Saitiev scored the takedown. You can see the referee waving the end of the match before Ronero gains control. I don't think the athletes knew what the call was right away.

I thought the point for Saitiev on the takedown was legitimate. The 'feeling' caution at the end was bad though. Romero was backing up a bit, but usually they'll let you do that at the end of a match.

Anonymous Coward 2 years ago

Why was Romero waving and acting like he won, while Satiev was looking all down and defeated...then the ref raises Satiev's hand!?!?!

laverick 2 years ago

I have watched the end sequence so many times an the match i have is from a better angle, romero does go down first, he lands on his elbow with his legs in the air, even if its for a split second its still a point, it was the right call

the cuban guy 2 years ago

was very affectionate lol

Affectionate Cuban 2 years ago

What's with all the hugging? Looks like Romero wants to give Saitiev a Cuban missile crisis at the end...

Now that's a wrestling match. As legendary as Bouvaisa is, Adam can be much more enjoyable to watch. He's always going for the underhooks to inside trip. And his flexibility and mat awareness are phenomenal. Of course Yoel was no slouch either.
I don't see what the controversy is though. They were tied, and Adam scored the first takedown.
If I remember correctly, the rules at that time said if the score was tied after 6 minutes, they continue wrestling until someone scores. Adam scored first. Not sure why Yoel started celebrating. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
