Jim Harshaw never placed at state as a high school athlete. He went on to win three ACC titles and became an all-american for the Cavaliers. Now he heads up the Cavaliers wrestling club. Jim is working on and implementing a new marketing program in the state of Virginia and wants it to go nationwide.

An entire interview with a chew in. Man I love it! Apartment 18 would be proud. Never heard of flow, but good post Jim. I think c-ville is going in the right direction and congrats to you and steve for creating the right atmosphere to allow that. Best-

Excellent point. Most sports marketing depts at universities don't work hard enough for our sport. High schools don't have anyone. So we have to do it ourselves. It's that simple. Make the phone calls, send story ideas to reporters, develop a relationship with the media. It works. I see examples of it all the time. The other option is to stay status quo.

Pitt's Kieth Garvin goes 33-0 and wins the NCAA Div I National Championship last year. I was driving home the evening of his victory listening to the local sports talk show - not one mention of this amazing accomplishment. I dialed the show, talked to the call screener to mention Kieth's victory and then sat on hold for an hour plus before I gave up. I was frustrated that here in W PA Kieth was not afforded the media recognition he deserved. One way to counter act this is to contact the news rooms to let them know that there is interest. Good topic.

when is the class, he has the idea and intelligence to acheive this. We need to watch him and steal his ideas so the sport can move forward. it's the hill that we have always been climbing. Like I said let me know when the class is. I will be there.

HARSHAWS PROGRAM AT CWC IS GREAT - ITS WHAT MY SON LOOKS FORWARD TO IN HIS TRAINING EACH WEEK. AS A PARENT I'M TRYING TO ALIGN COACHES AND INSTRUCTORS FOR HIM TO TAKE HIM TO THE NEXT LEVEL. HARSHAW HAS BEEN DOING THIS SUCCESSFULLY FOR HIM. HE GETS BETTER EACH WEEK. THE COLLEGE WRESTLERS HE GETS TO INTERACT WITH AND WRESTLE ARE EXCELLENT - IF YOU CAN GET TO UVA DO IT - ITS A HUGE VALUE. THANKS JIM.

Jim Harshaw is a class act - with a great attitude and passion for the sport.
He was a big part of getting UVA back on the map by being an All-American for them and getting things up and going. Best of luck Jim with the new club and promoting Virginia Wrestling - keep up the great work! If you get a chance e-mail your marketing program and we can try it in Iowa. Great ideas.
