dont get me wrong anthony robles is my fav wrestler but i think i know how you could beat him by getting the front head lock then run to the side were his leg is missing or when you start get the take down quick because he is off balance
he could just shuck out of it, even if his legs not on that side.. know what im saying?

I remember Robles in the HS nationals. I thought that college wrestlers would be able to figure him out. Well not yet. No, he does not have an unfair advantage over other wresters his weight! Were that the case, there would be more than one one-limbed wrestler in the NCAAs.

his tilt is nasty

To anonymous coward in response.............

And what would that be? I do not see many 125 lb. kids in wrestling posessing his upper body, having nothing to do with his determination and showing it! So if u work extra hard at an overall advantage on an opponent, the only offensive u have in wrestling, i am not completely rewarded? The only
rebutt in your grievance is your defeat at it's finest, taking the whole concept of ads and disads the tangibles which wrestling is globalized upon!

What I am most impressed with is his handle, always having an arm locked up, and his over - all balance, keeping his opponent in striking distance of his attack! Truly AWESWOME!!!!!

But by the same token he is awesome on top with tilts and that would be a tough postition to wrestle him from. Congrats for an outstanding tourney Mr Robels!

To wrestle this kid I believe that an opponent has to match head levels with him. That may mean wrestling on 1 or both knees. I wonder who the official would call for stalling if this was to happen.

DRC actually has a point. National and International marathon events do not allow people in wheel chairs to compete in the regular catagory. Given the significant advantage Robles has in the upper body (note the wrist / arm strenght on the tilts), perhaps he should compete against others in his same situation?

Was it the second period where Fluke started down and hit the sit-out and then the roll? Robles didn't look like his size gave him and advantage there; Robles couldn't step over Fluke's back leg (because there's no leg to step with), and when Fluke hit the roll, Robles couldn't brace himself with the non-existent leg.

So yeah, advantages and disadvantages. But it's cool to see how Robles has adapted to those positions, and was able to still get in on the leg in the middle of that scramble.

BDB1950 4 years ago

I think the disadvantages work both ways......... I couldn't imagine what goes through the minds of those who wrestle him when they reach for a leg that is not there. At times I'm not sure the officials are sure when to award or not award points! where in defensing many moves one often grabs a leg to to thrwart the move. No such luck here. That said you still have to marvel at what Robles has accomplished!

DRC, shut up with the"should not be allowed to wrestle at 125", he has one freakin LEG!...just think about that

Tyler Furger 4 years ago

drc that is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. he should be allowed to compete. despite what you say, sure he has a big upper body, but everyone he wrestle has a advantage over him, two legs...

Robles should not be permitted to compete at 125 ... it's a totally unfair advantage he has in the upper body -- he's bigger than most 157lbers ...

Nice tilts! Awesome to watch such a great athlete!

Just awsome to see. I'll be rooting for him at the NCAA's.
