The Perryman-Squires match was a great match, with Perryman scoring a late takedown to tie the match with about 13-15 seconds left. Squires created a scramble and ended up getting a reversal with 5-6 seconds left. After the match was over the referee said that the clock had been started 15 seconds late, so Squires' points didn't count... there was much fuss about if Perryman's TD would count - the referee said it would have, and overtime began. After a few great scrambles and near takedowns on the line, the boys came back to the middle and Squires shot before the whistle for his third, and match deciding, caution.
Perryman was up at 35, and Squires weighed in heavy to set up the match. Squires is now back at 30, and Perryman has been up at 35 since. Who knows, could be a great state finals match if Perryman were to make his way back down.
Two great kids on great teams.
