And Grajales beat Alton WHO IS #1 at 140 now. He beat Oliver last year. Killed a wisc state champ at cheesehead (Umlauf won at 130), won a # of National titles, plus never losing a high school match in 4 yrs (something taylor can't say). You guys need to pull the ski caps away from your eyes so you can see the truth even if you don't like it.

I gotta say that Taylor would dominate Grajales. He would make Grajales so frustrated, and then capitalize on Grajales' mistakes

Iowa wrestling
hahahahhahahahhahahhahahahhaha....i sooo agree and couldnt put it any better myself...and that would actually be a great idea combining the south eastern states

Why is there so much hate for Grajales? You can't tell if Taylor or Grajales would win by watching tape. You idiots sound like "fat drunk guys debating if the Ruth's Yankees would beat Jeter's Yankees". No way to know unless they wrestle. I do know the kids Grajales toyed with at the Cheesehead (videos on this site) are both in the semis in their state championships. I can't accept that these kids from Wisconsin are soft given their records. Let Grajales's present and future accomplishments define his skills. As far as Taylor goes he seems to be a great wrestler. I would love to see this match. Don't care who wins. Just think that tearing down a KID that you don't even know is wrong. Also if Florida wrestling is so bad why do they hold records at Fargo?
Iowa Wrestling February 27 at 1:01am
not that this means anything in relation to taylor vs grajales but FLORIDA wrestling is horrible. Its almost hard to watch. They should combine those southern states to make a SouthEast usa champ bc having championships in florida is like hosting a math competition at school for the challenged.

This was posted on Scout,I didn't send this but it bothered me. If you guys want to see this happen email this guy Bruce and let him know what you think. Help promote our sport.
Being a wrestling fan and wanting to see David and Eric wrestle I emailed the committee of the Dapper Dan Classic. I only received one response from Bruce Colosson () who appears to have a relationship with the Wrestling Report site and the Classic. Here is the series of emails I sent and received:
I sent:
"This match needs to happen and they are both going to be in your gym, this will be epic! Matches like this do more for the sport of wrestling then anything else. I realize the committee stays with the format most of the time but this is one time you have a great chance to make an impact in the sport."
Thank you for your time,
Wrestling Fan
I received from Bruce:
"Why he isnt that special"
I replied:
"Who isn't that special?"
"3rd at Junior nationals? Thats average for the wrestlers we get"
"These two are the two best pound for pound high school wrestlers in the country and if they are not so special why are they on your USA Team?"
"Look at the history of the classic
The are decent wrestlers.
You need a life
Bruce"
My last response to Bruce and the rest of the committee:
"Wow, I asked a question you insulted two of the wrestlers on your USA Team and now you are insulting a coach and a fan of the sport that need all the positive press we can get. I'll be sure to forward this along."
If anyone knows how to get this to David Taylor please feel free to forward it along. This guy is unreal, I just want to see these two get to settle the debate and this guy insults everyone. He must not be a true fan.

RE: Dapper Dan (Taylor and Grajalis)
3rd IS AVERAGE!! Does he consider winning it and greco average and having the most intense match with Nate Moore, #1 ranked kid in the nation at that time, who didnt wrestle greco the precious days, is that average.
Eric is #1 and he has proven that year after year. I guess beating Oliver last year and being the USA All American first team is also average.
I honestly think its because hes a Florida wrestler.

Re: Dapper Dan (Taylor and Grajalis)
The crazy thing is he thinks very little of them both. It is my opinion that these two are the best two pound for pound in the country, I will leave it up to them, on the mat, to determine who is best. That is the only thing I want to see. This guy bashed them both and then attacked me when I questioned him. Now, I couldn't care less about him attacking me but come on, everyone wants to see that match. He is a committee member for this tournament and doen't think two to the USA Team members are very special.
Anonymous Coward February 1 at 4:09pm
they are both outstanding wrestlers, but taylor is just too perfect technically. grajales' "rough tough, intimidate the opponent" style will not work against taylor.
You all must be idiots if you think either Grajales or Taylor would Tech the other...it would be a good match (probably within 3 points or so either way)

Brandon’s Eric Grajales is headed to the nation’s most prestigious high school wrestling event.
Cesar Grajales, Eric’s father, confirmed Wednesday that the Eagles senior standout has accepted an invitation to compete at the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic, an event billed as the “Rose Bowl of Wrestling.” The 35th annual event will be held March 15 at the Fitzgerald Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
Grajales will wrestle at 140 pounds for the USA All-Stars, a collection of the nation’s top high school senior wrestlers. The USA All-Stars will compete against the Pennsylvania All-Stars in the event’s premier match. The Western Pennsylvania (WPIAL) All-Stars will face the West Virginia All-Stars in the event’s other match.
Grajales is just the fifth Hillsborough County wrestler to be selected for the USA All-Stars, joining former Chamberlain standout Glenn Goodman (1980) and former Brandon standouts Dennis Kitko (1993), Franklin Gomez (2005) and David Craig (2006). Each of the five wrestlers were coached by longtime Brandon coach Russ Cozart, who started his county coaching career at Chamberlain before coming to Brandon.
One additional county wrestler, Gaither’s Mike Patierno, competed for the USA All-Stars in 1991 as a replacement when the wrestler at his weight got sick, according to Cozart, who was a coach for the Florida All-Star team that competed against the WPIAL All-Stars that year. Patierno was on the Florida All-Star team that year, as were Brandon’s John Heyman and Ken Urquhart.
Grajales is a three-time state champion for the Eagles. On Saturday night in the 135-pound finals at the 25th annual Tony Ippolito Memorial Tournament, Grajales earned his 200th win in a Brandon uniform, improving to 200-0 for his career with the Eagles. He has signed to wrestle next season for the University of Michigan.
Cesar Grajales added he and his son have asked the Dapper Dan committee for the opportunity for Eric to wrestle Ohio prep standout David Taylor following the Dapper Dan team matches. Grajales and Taylor are considered two of the nation’s best high school wrestlers. It is unknown whether the match will get the go-ahead.

grajeles over taylor by at least a major , grajeles might just play with him
Burgman January 28 at 8:50am
After David Taylor beat palmer i thought for sure he would be #1
Anonymous Coward January 27 at 11:02pm
colin shober from PA should def. be on here
Wrestling Fan January 27 at 2:55pm
David Taylor is a machine and sloppy wrestling from grajales will only get him majored by Taylor. Taylor doesn't stop, just ask colin palmer who imo is better than grajales. no doubt he is a hammer but Taylor isn't the Cheesehead. He's the real deal. It's time to put this story to rest. David Taylor is the best bar none!!!!
