Advice I give to me
July 28, 2009
I made some rules for myself yesterday. I've been living out at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for nearly nine months now. I tell myself that I'm going to do everything I can to get to be the best in the world but sometimes that isn't enough to keep me on track. When there aren't a lot of training partners out here it's easy to get disheartened. That's been an issue with freestyle while I've been here. There are so many different factors - money, loyalties to college teams, training partners or coaches, more personal freedom, families and… more »
Program Development: The Systems Approach
July 23, 2009
Ray Kroc has not been to all 28,000
McDonald's. Nor did he create the first McDonald's burger. What he
did was discover a great idea, created a series of systems that enabled
him to repeat what was being done on a vastly profitable scale.
What about you? What's holding you back in your program? Where is
your weakness? What do you know how to do but hate doing? Do it once
and write down the steps. Now you have a system. Do it 3 more times
and re-write your system as necessary. Then, pass it on to someone
else.
You… more »
Message #89 - Live Life Today as if Today was all you Had...
July 22, 2009
Because all we really have is NOW. That's all we really can Control. Tomorrow is not promised.
I had the good fortune to meet a great man recently. A wise man full of years with a lot of life experiences...but unfortunately he was dying. In fact when I met him he would only be alive for 14 more days. After spending some time with this man I learned very quickly that he really loved life and lived life to the fullest!
After spending some time with him and learning all that he had accomplished... I came to this startling revelation...… more »
Walk with me: The Journey to Jerusalem
July 22, 2009
Walk with me as I retrace Jesus foot steps and the site of the crucifixion.
I documented every time Jesus fell under the weight of the cross and where he was sentenced by Pontius Pilate and site of the earthquake after his death.
Not to get to religious but the history in itself was jaw dropping.
I also visited the Western Wall the Holiest place to the Jewish faith which is part of the sacred temple built by Herod.
The Dome of the Rock which represents when Mohamed ascended through heaven one of the Holiest places in the Muslim faith.… more »

The Munich Memorial Grand Prix is dedicated to the athletes that died in the hands of terrorist at the Olympic games in Munich Germany in 1972
Out of the 11 athletes that died 4 were wrestlers. One athlete escaped who was a 48kg wrestler who I met at the memorial along with the widows of the fallen.
It was a great honor to represent the USA and pay repsect to our fallen comrads.
Highlight matches to watch 74kg final was an all out war between Canada and Belrus. Also the 55kg between USA & Israel has allot of drama at… more »

Message #88 - Are You Putting It All On The Line...?
July 14, 2009
There's no Limit to What You Can Do...But to Find Out What You Can Do...You Must First Put It All On The Line...
The reason most people don't put it all on the line is because the very act of putting it on the line exposes any weaknesses and, of course, any strengths.
Putting it on the line means going all out...holding nothing back.
HOW ELSE WILL YOU KNOW WHAT YOU REALLY CAN DO?
HOW ELSE WILL YOU BE ABLE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES BASED ON EXPOSED WEAKNESSES?
You need to know what your strengths are just as you must… more »
The Begining: The Journey to Nazereth
July 14, 2009
One of the most interesting things about the Middle East especially Israel is that the most sacred land to all religions is here...
While we here are to see some wrestling and experience Israel I thought it would be fitting to visit some of the most sacred religious places to man.
To give you a brief background according to the gospel of Luke Jesus grew up in Nazareth. We visited the Annunciation Church (which is where Mary was told by the Angel Gabriel that she would have Jesus as her son).
Modern scholars believe Jesus grew up and was born… more »

From Iran to Israel wrestling is the one brotherhood that takes you around the world...
I flew in on Sunday from JFK NYC direct to the holy land. I flew El Al which I was told the most secure airline in the world. I learned that very quickly.
Coming into this trip I knew there would be questions at customs and by government about my trip to Israel being that I went to Iran( and vise versa if it were the other way around).
I was waiting for my contingent at JFK in front of the airline when I was… more »
Russian Nationals Is Over
July 5, 2009
I am back at the internet cafe and very frustrated. I just tried to upload a 33 second video of an official getting punched in the face by a coach and it would not work. NOT EVEN A 33 SECOND VIDEO. The end of the tournament was good. A great final at 84 kilos and I may have a new favorite russian wrestler. He got 2nd but all of his matches are so fun to watch. We successfully filmed every match of the whole tournament. Naming them and uploading them will be quite a task. There will be some mistakes… more »
55 And 60 Kilos in the Books
July 3, 2009
Alright, I just got to a cafe with poor internet. The first days wrestling was great. Zeb and I shot every single match, I think about 80. It was kind of crazy because there were 3 mats and only 2 of us. We were wielding 3 cameras at once. I was just told that this place closes in 5 mins so excuse errors and length. I met a man names Paul today and he came to meet us at the tournament. He ended up translating 2 interviews for us. One with 60 kilo Russian champ (world champ and olympic bronze… more »

Zeb and I are here at a McDonalds and have a little time to fill you guys in. We arrived in Kazan this morning by train. As soon as we got in Tigran talked to a man who took us to his mothers flat. This is now where we are staying. They just packed up and left. It is three rooms with a kitchen and is costing us about 33 dollars per night. At first it was a little awkward for Zeb and me as we though they were staying. We made a video but cannot upload it now. Unfortunately… more »
Message #87 - Want to Improve your Performance...?
July 1, 2009
Keep a Consistent and Focused Goal Oriented Attitude!
Attitude is defined as "a mental position (or a feeling or emotion) with regard to something".
Most of us are quick to let a negative circumstance change our attitude and feelings about something. This type of attitude, unfortunately, is determined by circumstance and not really focused on a particular goal or outcome.
Therefore when our circumstance changes...so does our attitude. Circumstances change alot...and unfortunately with most of us, so does our attitude.
Example; something happens we don't like...we get a negative attitude about it. This attitude is usually negative, strong and changes… more »
We Are Leaving For Kazan Today
July 1, 2009
The trip has been great so far. Zeb and I have been able to get out and see a lot. Yesterday we went to red square and old arbot with the Kolesnikov's. I met Gennady Kolesnikov through facebook. he is an 18 year old wrestler from Moscow. He is very in to his training and knows a lot about freestyle wrestling. He and his brother picked us up and helped us get around Moscow. Unfortunaly, and you may have seen the video as Zeb has not turned his camera off the entire trip, they wanted to eat at McDonalds for… more »
