Can't quite remember how this idea came up but since nothing is going on this week it seems like a pretty good week to try it out. Shooting a documentary on the CMU wrestling program has been an eye opening experience about the sport of wrestling for me. One of the most interesting components has been seeing the guys "cut" weight. You know that feeling when you’re in the shower and the water is too hot so you turn the knob a little bit, but then it’s too cold? You struggle back and forth with increasingly less torque, but you can never get exactly the right temperature. That’s how I feel all the time. To me, the season is a never ending process of adjusting and tinkering. I meet minor setbacks on a daily basis and try to overcome them. This is a shout out and a thank you to all of those wrestlers who put it on the line. To me the worst paradox is when I hear a wrestler or coach who complain about how no one wants to watch wrestling, then go out a wrestle a 3-2 boring match that puts even the biggest wrestling fans to sleep.
