I <3 Huckabees
February 26, 2008
Can you do me a favor? I want you to look at your palms. Keep looking at them and try to roll them outward or over the top. (Opposite the direction they are supposed to go until you see the backs of you hands) Keep rolling them as far as you can until you reach your limitation. Relax, take a second, breathe deep. Get ready for round two. Now I want you to flip your hands over and look at the back of your hands. If you’re anything like me than you know the back of your hand… more »

Well I am back in Moscow and got get on the internet for a while and posted my first part of the blog on flowrestling.com. I could do without a lot of modern amenities, it doesn’t bother me that I haven’t been able to use my phone or the tv, but the lack of internet use really make me feel disconnected to the outside world. Also my lack of the Russian language is continuing to plague me, our translator got a sauna reserved for Jared and I this morning at 8.… more »

Like many of my trips this one started with the veritable planes, trains and automobiles. I woke up at eight, stopped for a red bull and headed to St. Louis. I parked at the Bus Stop and John took a few minutes off work to give me a ride to the airport. I don’t remember any of my flight to New York, I slept the whole time. The walk from the my gate to the other… more »

Mathematics
February 19, 2008
I’ve always been good at math. I’m probably one of the few people that actually enjoys it. Wait…I hate the math, but I like the understanding behind the math. For example, last week’s blog I tried to solve how much a casino makes of a billion dollars of blackjack bets. I did the wrong equation. If the casino wins 51% then I have to consider both the casino and the individuals playing blackjack putting a billion dollars up. The casino should leave with 51% of two billion dollars or twenty million more than it invested.

And the winner is...
February 18, 2008
The NCAA Division III National Championships in Cedar Rapids are less than three weeks away. You regular blog readers may remember that in my January 21st blog I announced the “What I love most about college wrestling†essay contest. The quality of the entries was excellent and, in the end, I couldn’t pick just one winner. Entries came in from both fans and wrestlers and I’ve selected a winner from each of those categories.
Both winners will receive two all-session tickets to the Division III Championships, a three-night stay in the Cedar Rapids Marriott and two tickets… more »

Everything to Lose!
February 12, 2008
This article is meant to answer one simple question: Do rankings mean anything?
It’s pretty common to hear “rankings don’t really mean anything†from almost everyone. On the other hand it’s also common to get congratulated on being ranked highly. And then I have to start to dig into the deep philosophical question of ‘what really matters in life?’ I want to avoid the deep philosophical question in this case. Therefore I will focus simply on one answer to the question ‘what matters in life?’ and that is the bottom-line, winning. (Deep down I’m very shallow)

Dan Gable did not invent wrestling

Dan Gable did not invent wrestling…
neither did John Smith, nor did Cael Sanderson nor did J Robinson.
Socrates said approximately 2,500 years ago, “I swear it upon Zeus, the outstanding runner cannot be the equal of the average wrestler.â€
“Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the world’s oldest and greatest sport.†With those words, Ed Aliverti kicked off countless wrestling tournaments.
Ask any ten baseball fans between the ages of 18 and 29 who ranks 3rd in career home runs and I’ll wager that at least seven can… more »

America doesnt need wrestling.
February 7, 2008
America doesnt need wrestling.
Why do some in the wrestling community plead like a 5 year old kid saying "America needs wrestling."
What?
I find that the equivalent of someone saying "America needs Football"
Hate to break it to people but America is bigger than any sport.
Try telling "America needs Wrestling" to a professor or an AD at a school who really isnt a wrestling fan and see what his response is. Probably come out thinking people in wrestling are arrogant.

I figure since I’m on a roll giving out useless advice I might as well give out dating advice. I should warn you, my dating advice in many cases might get you slapped.
I’m going to tell you how to make sure you get a date:
A huge problem guys have in getting dates is they get a girl’s number and either talk to her a few times and never meet up with her again or she doesn’t pick up and they never even get to talk to her. There’s also the three-day… more »
