Training for the Off-season Tournament
March 29, 2009
Coach Tenney approached me at the elimination dinner and proposed the idea of an off season tournament this year. So the training has begun, I will blog every day of my diet and workouts. If you guys think you can keep up, you are welcome to try. Plan on seeing you guys at the shack, fitness center or building before the end of June. And one last thing; I am coming back from my honeymoon early to wrestle in this tournament, if you guys have something more important than that going on to where you can not make it, just… more »

Time for the International Wrestling community to adopt CHANGES!
March 27, 2009
Well, the wrestling season is over and it's time to gear it up for the off season. There'll be a lot of lifting, drilling and beer swilling occurring around the country these next few months. In many rooms wrestlers will be adapting their styles and making the change from the USA style to the International styles of "freestyle" and "greco".
For many years the United States has been head to head in International wrestling, but in these last few years we have not had the success we have become accustom to. Sure we've had some wins, but we, as a… more »

Was the Bailout Itself a Scam?
By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS
Professor
Michael Hudson (CounterPunch, March 18) is correct that the
orchestrated outrage over the $165 million AIG bonuses is a diversion
from the thousand times greater theft from taxpayers of the
approximately $200 billion “bailout” of AIG. Nevertheless, it is a
diversion that serves an important purpose. It has taught an
inattentive American public that the elites run the government in their
own private interests.
Americans
are angry that AIG executives are paying themselves millions of dollars
in bonuses after having cost the taxpayers an exorbitant sum. Senator
Charles Grassley… more »
The Top 10 Biggest Mental Mistakes A Wrestler Can Make
March 27, 2009
1. Getting involved in the hype. Reading rankings, the papers and/or forum. Leave this to the spectators, after the season you can read your articles.2. Associating with negative people and small-time thinkers. These people will only slow you down. Keep your distance from them, especially during the season.3. Making any particular match or tournament “special.” Every match and practice is important, but nothing is ever special. Special adds pressure. Treat everything the same. Consistency!4. Believing ANY opponent you face is unbeatable. David and Goliath, Giants and Patriots, Gable and Owings, The Movie Miracle, etc. etc.5. Focusing on the past or… more »
Dave Eggers, Buddha and Aristotle blow your mind
March 25, 2009
Dave Eggers I am going to make an allusion to the title[1] of one of your short stories, You are welcome to wear my head gear. I miss cutting weight sometimes. It was a meaningful emptiness, a palpable hunger with a clear origin. You are hungry because you are denying yourself food and you will be satisfied when you eat. I miss this simplicity, the familiar process of denial. Taking in less and doing more. It was horrible then, but once something becomes routine you’re going to miss it when it’s gone.
I always want to try and explain that… more »

Still Bleeding Black and Blue: The New Begining
March 19, 2009
This Season. After lots of hard work it was sad to realize that I might wrestle again but I would never again don the blacka nd blue Kenwood Wrestling singlet or warm-up with my team again or get those jitters the day of the match. I would never be able to revenge my losses or ever go back to those matches that I had made mistakes in. It hit me in the first round of counties when a tough leg rider from Dulaney started working power halfs and guillotines. Wrestling as I knew it was never going to be the… more »

Take something away from the sport!
March 18, 2009
I've had the opportunity to compete and then coach a lot of kids in the sport of wrestling throughout the years. Everyone focuses on the wrestling champions. People like success stories on the mat but, I've found, most "champions" aren't worth a crap off the mat, as people. Many also like to relive the glory days and have difficulty keeping it together once their competitive days are over.
I have tried to teach my kids the importance of succeeding off the mat. Making good grades, striving for excellence and achieving goals in the "real world" realm by using the same… more »
Wrestling Nutrition

"Bad nutriton can make an athlete good, but good nutrition can make an athlete great"
The information of nutrition hasn't yet been absorbed into many wrestlers heads yet and its not only killing the sport of wrestling its killing you mentally and physically. Many kids don't understand the rules of good nutrition. Whether you're cutting weight or maintain your optimal weight (you= 142lbs you wrestle at 145lbs) you should always have a good nutrition program. I will explain and try to be specific as much as i can on this subject. So just bear with me here. Most of the… more »
The troubled US insurance giant has bowed to demands to restructure its bonus pa
March 17, 2009
The troubled US insurance giant has bowed to demands to restructure its bonus payments to its employees.
Top level bonuses to its executive staff are to be dramatically cut
this year according to a letter sent by Edward Liddy, AIG’s Chairman to
the US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
The letter confirmed that 2008 bonuses would be paid because the
company had no choice. These were legally binding payouts, which were
being honored despite being bailed out by the taxpayer.
It is still believed to be the biggest-ever government rescue of a
US company. American International Group (AIG) plays a key… more »

32 ACC Qualifiers- Get Real!
March 16, 2009
Come on… 32 qualifiers? The ACC only had 2 All American’s last season?
It’s been a long time since the ACC had more than 30 NCAA qualifiers. When I
qualified for my first NCAA tournament the conference had 27 bids, but in those
days the conference also produced NCAA champions and multiple All-Americans: TJ
Jaworsky, Sam Henson, Dave Land, Justin Harty, et al. Soon, the conference
stopped producing as many All-Americans and basically hit a wall. However, the
conference still had the leftover effects of the golden years and some national
qualifiers didn’t deserve to go due to flaws in… more »

COMPARE TO ALCOHOL ALTERNATIVES!
March 4, 2009
Athletic Body Care is alcohol free and therefore has none of the ill effects associated with alcohol-gel based sanitizers. Research from several studies has concluded that the frequent use of alcohol based sanitizers actually increases the number of bacteria on the skin.
Alcohol gel strips away the skin’s natural oils and severely dry the skin with repeated use. This effect has many negative implications that reduce the effectiveness of alcohol based products in real world environments. For example, users of alcohol based products often complain of the drying and irritation resulting from prolonged use, and are therefore prone to avoid… more »
