We just had our first freestyle and greco-roman tournament at cherokee we took 8 wrestler and me,Ian Clevenger, Cameron Giles, Josh Anderson,Spencer thomas, Corey Anthoney, Stan Davige, and Mikey Clevenger went to the tourney. 5 first placers, 1 second placef, and 2 third placers in greco. In freestyle we had 6 first placers,and 1 second placer. we had five 5 point moves thrown, dozens of three point moves and one long day. Our journey up the moutain was cool with the mountain tree with fog and pouring rain. the trip was awesome.

A New Way To Fight Dropping Wrestling Programs

So this is my first blog, and I am not used to this. But I was writing a few ideas of creative out-of-the-box ideas to help save our sport from programs like Oregon dropping it. I thought that posting it here might result in getting good feedback on improving the ideas, as well as how feasible it might be. I dunno...I also had some other non-traditional ideas about ways to exert pressure to save the program and gain further funding. Wrestling Memories

I've always said the thing that separates wrestling from the other sports, are the memories we have from our trips to meets or the overnight trips.

If you are in an area like mine, where you travel at least 2hrs to get matches and go as far as 4hrs sometimes, you tend to spend a lot of time on the road, with your team.

You learn over time that wrestling starts to become its own brotherhood of sorts and you tend to bond more with your teammates or kids you coach more so than… more »

The Mighty 300

As I sit here thinking about what more could be done to save the University of Oregon wrestling program, I can't help but think that we as wrestlers are somehow compared to the warriors of the movie "300."

For those who don't know, the story of the 300, goes back to ancient Greece when 300 Spartans tried to hold off a million Persians and nearly won. It talks of their bravery, standing up for their beliefs and never backing down no matter what.
