The key to staph prevention is making sure you thoroughly clean all gear and equipment (including mat surfaces, head gear, etc.), shower after training, and treat (with a first aid treatment like StaphAseptic) and cover all abrasions, mat burns, scrapes, etc. Once you have had a staph infection you are more susceptible to getting one again so you want to take extra care. Also note that topical triple antibiotics have not been shown to be effective against MRSA (antibiotic resistant staph)
There is no 100% guarantee that you can completely rid your body of germs, but by paying extra attention to hygiene and keeping your training gear clean you can have better results.
