08-09 Season
Well, we are a week away from starting practice and beginning the 08-09 season. Last season did not end the way we had hoped for but did end with 2 state champions, Tyler St. Louis, winning his 3rd title, and Collin Wittmeyer getting his first. There is excitement entering this season, as we get Joe Pace, a state champion in 07, and Joey McLain, a qualifier in 07, back to strengthen our lineup. The goal is still to win a state championship and we feel we have the core to do so. We have to work hard, stay healthy, and fit everyone into the lineup. This year we return 2 state champions (Wittmeyer and Pace), 1 other place winner (Jared Burns), and 4 state qulifiers (Joey Mclain - 07, Brock St. Louis - 08, Chris Evans - 08 a transfer back from Wentworth and Marccus Spearman - 08). We will also have to have others that will step in and help us get back to the top, including David Miller (9), twins Brett and Cody Poos (9), Jon Booker (12) a transfer from Iowa, Corey Bredeson (11), Jason Barmann (11), and Blaine Conner (11). We need to have some young kids step up and help us at the beginning and end of the lineup. We are wrestling a tough schedule with duals against Oak Park, Lee's Summit, Kearney, and Omaha Skutt Catholic. Our tournament schedule is also very competitive with Ray-Pec Border Duals (5 duals against Kansas Schools), the national caliber Toshiba Kansas City Classic at the KCI Expo Center, Louisburg Invitational, Branson Invitational, our own Platte County Invitational, which includes Skutt and Oak Grove, and the Blue Springs South Invitational. Should be an exiting season. If you get the opportunity, come see us in action.
