oh geez no matter what people are gonna be left at home they maybe should be there. They dont fit the formula its why every match during the season is extremely important. It changes the concept of how we view wrestling that the season doesnt matter only the post season. Well thats not the case anymore.

Why would they give Ohio St. 3 guys back on thier squad. It's ridiuclous to reward a team or wrestlers that sisn't perform when it counted!

How could they not possibly pick Ortega from Indiana at 133 for the at large bid. He's wrestled the best, placed 7th at the Big Ten but they pick guys from the Pac 10 who havent wrestled anyone. Is it because they are seniors and he's a freshman?

The system is better but not perfect and surely there will be some changes. I think most would agree that it is better to awards conference bids based on the current year than based on past years. Do better next year and things change next year.

JoeFlo,

You guys have to dig into this new bid system. In an effort to reduce subjectivity and make it fairer, the NCAA has succeeded in doing just the opposite. Columbia and the EIWA are getting completely screwed.
The 197 decision in the EIWA simply defies logic. The 5th placer, Silber of American, is going but the third placer, Lou Miller, from Columbia isn't?? Miller loses a 2-1 TB to #1 seed Starks (who got hurt and had to default the final to Simaz), and then Miller wrestles all the way back for third, beating Neese of Navy the #4 seed and Stearns of Brown who beat Silber 6-1. Tell me, who is ready to shock somebody at NCAAs, Miller or Shovlin? WTF!!!???
As for Derek Sickles not getting a bid at 157, it's just a crime. The Big Ten sends eight at 157?? So, apparantly all you had to do is make weight at the Big Ten tournament at 157 and you get a bid?!! The Big Ten is incredibly good, but not at every weight class. The EIWA has the returning NCAA champ in Leen who beat the BIg Ten champ Poeta at NCAAs last year (and he's peaking again), the #5 ranked kid in the country in JP O'Conner, the #12 kid in Winston, and the #18 kid in Dragon. Besides Poeta, Big Ten has #13 Welch, who took second at qualifier and got his ass kicked by Poeta, and #16 Safratowich from MN. Which conference has greater depth at 157? It's a no-brainer! But Big Ten sends 8 and EIWA sends 4??? It's just crazy. Even if you were to say that both conferences are equally tough at 157-- a concession -- give each 6 and Sickles gets to go.
The best kid in the country will still win the tournament at each weight, but the WC bid system is completely screwing up who gets to be AA -- some who might be didn't even get a bid. It's shameful and it needs to be fixed.
