Wrestling Blogs - Chris Pendleton
My First Blog
August 26, 2007
When Matin came to my house to do my interview with flowrestilng i was a wreck. Nervous that I would say something stupid and completely embarrass myself. That was nothing compared to doing this blog. I have sat down three different times trying to figure out what I wanted to write about. All the while having Martin breathing down my neck like an english composition teacher! On his visit to my house Martin and I satyed up late talking about wrestling and how it's changing in the new "digital era" when one of us came up with the idea of having a current wrestler do a blog to try and help younger wrestlers and fans understand what they are going through. With the popularity of message boards growing there is alot of misinformation out there. That's me putting it politely, what I really mean to say is that there are alot of idiot hiding behind fake names attacking people that are putting everything they have into a sport. I admit from time to time getting on message boards to see whats happening in our sport, maybe to get the scores from dual meets, maybe reading an old legend like Randy Lewis telling a story from back in his day. But when I see people attacking young men who might offer a little flair to our sport, or people critizing coaches who have far surpassed anything they have ever done it really makes me wonder what kind of people are involved. That was one of the things that attracted me to flowrestling. These are real legends and heroes that are trying to let the wrestling world know what they have gone through. This is the kind of stuff I want my little brothers to look at. Not the opinion of somebody that wont even put a real name after their attacks.
Well anyway sorry if that seems like a ramble. I'll try to keep updating on my training progress as I move through this olympic year. I haven't reached my potential in freestyle yet and I know alot of people are writing me off. And honestly im fine with it. I love being the the under dog. I have a great situation here in stillwater, with training partners like daniel cormier, tyrone lewis, and zack esposito. And the best american freestyle wrestler of all time as my coach. Yes the best... six golds in six tries... c'mon is it really even a debate?
