High School Season draws near
November 17th will be here in a blink. HS Football season is winding down and playoffs are about to start. This is my favorite time of the year. With leaves falling under a crisp October sun, pre season sprint and distance workouts are optimal. With next Tuesday bringing the last Bear Claw Club team practice of the fall sessions, I realize that it time to switch focus back to Tahoma High Wrestling. Though several of our best high school wrestlers are also on the community club team, the dynamics of our high school team is special and i need to focus on it it now that club season is over.
Like most teams across the NW, we have several veteran wrestlers to help lead the way but also have a good mix of young and new wrestlers to the team. Fortunately our practice room has several coaches that have competed at the college level and bring a wealth of experience, technique and positive energy to the room. I am excited to see what our group of staff and wrestlers can accomplish together this season. We have set several of the top tournaments in the NW on our schedule and we have the experience and depth within the line up to excel this season. Until the kids all pass their weight cert tests, I will not know the line up for sure but our tri-state lineup may look like this:
103 S Hopkins 9th Greco and Freestyle All American Cadet 08
112 T Mjelde 9th Middle school tournament champ
119 R Goranson state participant 08
125 J Higa 11th 2X st par
130 C Hayden 11th Regional qualifier
135 T Lamb 11th 2Xplacer
135 M Milat 11th cadet national team member
140 Jr Rea 12th st par
145 J Buban 12th
152 Z Shuesller 12th
160 R Ota 11th
171 N Bayer 11th (state champ 08)
189 Z Dopps 11th
215 K Knudsten 11th
I need to spend some time thinkging about the theme, system adjustments, and PT needs for this year's practice sessions. I will post again later after do some research.
