Well I haven't posted since my trip to Russia so you guys have probably been wondering what I have been up to. Well besides a trip to the NCAA tournament in St. Louis, which in my opinion is the great wrestling tournament in the world and if you haven't gone you need to, I have been leading a very boring and monotonous life. I wake up, work out, make myself some lunch then usually work out again. Wrestling is the one sole focus in my life. Last June after a very poor performance at the WTT I had decisions to make. Do I keep working towards the Olympics, something I have wanted since I was 15, do I start fighting or do I just go travel and explore the earth. When I decided I was going to make a run at Olympic gold I knew I was way behind where I needed to bne at that point so I made a plan. I figured out exactly what I would need to do to be where I wanted to be wrestling wise in August 2008. I stuck to this plan religiously and last Saturday I showed everyone how it has paid off. The point being is a lot of people liked to tell me I couldn't do something. I made a plan, worked hard and believed in myself and it paid off. I think this formula can work for anyone. So until the Olympic Team Trials I hope you guys can't wait to see me earn my trip to Bejiing.

Ben, my husband have folowed you for the past 4 years. We have seen you at the Cliff Keene in Vegas and also for USA Nationals. We really enjoy watching you and the exuberance that you bring to this sport.

Ben, great job and good luck in your quest for gold in Bejiing. It's amazing for someone just out of college to make the adjustment to freestyle as quick as you have. Particularly with the constant rule changes! Borrowing a comment from the great Sammie "The Bull" Henson "seize the moment".

I heard/read (I don't remember) about Askren showing up to the state tournament in a business suit and having a briefcase with the lettering "hardware" on it. Things like this and calling the Iowa fans for stalling at the NCAA's show that Askren is not only hilarious, but he wants to put on a show. Lawal said he might have a dance routine put together, what is the 2x Hodge winner going to do at the Olympic Trials?

Great job Ben. My sons were at the freestyle clinic you put on last summer at Missou. My oldest son got to roll around with you a little. I told him then that someday he would look back and tell the story of how he got to wrestle with an olympic champ. Keep up the good work.

I don't think you'll make the Olympics either(wink wink).

There's your fuel now. Good luck.
