COD5 Beta is coming soon
Call of Duty 5 will be out soon, November 11th to be exact. The beta has already started for the Xbox360, I think the PC beta will begin tomorrow. If you are on PC you can still get a beta spot by either going to callofduty.com and registering or by pre-ordering a copy of the game from gamestop.com. I went ahead and pre-ordered a copy from gamestop last week because I didn't know you could simply signup at the forums for a free key. I'm actually thinking about canceling my order now. I would like to buy through Steam if possible but I don't know if it will be released on Steam, I know COD4 wasn't.
So, Call of Duty 5 is coming in under a month, shouldn't I be happy? I mean, I play COD4 like 1-4 hours per day, sometimes more on the weekends. So why am I dreading the release of COD5? Well, mostly because it's a WW2 game with WW2 guns and WW2 outfits. I mean, I thought the community was pretty clear in their voice when we said we didn't want another WW2 release, we wanted another modern warfare instead. I guess Activision decided to do whatever they wanted to do and tell us to go pound sand. So now we have ANOTHER ww2 game coming out, as if we haven't had enough WW2 games in the past 10 years. The only difference with this one is that, unlike most WW2 games, it's going to take place in a Pacific setting as oppose to the European setting like most. I honestly don't care about the setting, what bugs me is the guns. I really dislike WW2 guns. They're just crap. I'm definitely going to play COD5, don't get me wrong. But it may be a short lived affair with me going back to COD4.
From what I hear, not much has changed from COD4 to COD5. Many of the perks are still the same, some have been changed a tiny bit. And there are a handful of new perks as well. One thing that has been added that looks really noobish is fire. You now have fire in the form of Molotov cocktails, I have some bad feelings about this already. I suspect this may overtake martyrdom as the ultimate noob perk. Speaking of martyrdom, that perk, unfortunately, will be making a comeback in COD5. I thought for sure they would remove it after all the complaints. Then again, if they listened to their userbase we wouldn't have an upcoming WW2 game, but they don't and we do. The heli perk(7kills) is going to be replaced with "attack dogs". Which on the surface doesn't sound so bad until you read the fine print "if you kill the dogs, they will re-spawn until their time is up". Meh, that one is going to be really annoying. Many of the top hack sites have already confirmed they will be releasing hacks the same day COD5 comes out. Not sure how they plan on doing that, maybe they will code for the beta and be ready for the official release? Not only that but COD5 is basically the exact same game as COD4 except it has new visual stuff, so I guess converting Call of Duty 4 hacks to COD 5 hacks shouldn't be that hard. Hopefully PunkBuster will be on top of all this.
