Wrestling is my life and my name is Andy Hrovat
October 10, 2007
Wrestling is my life and my name is Andy Hrovat. Ever since I was 5
years old all I ever wanted to do was wrestle and now that I am 27 the
feeling is the same. Over the past year I have had some of the best
wrestling experiences of my life. I won the world team trials, I
wrestled in the World Championships, the World Cup, and the Pan
American Games; I wrestled in Azerbaijan, China, Iran, Russia (twice),
Ukraine, and Brazil. I will wrestle anyone and I will go anywhere to
wrestle them. On Tuesday October 16th I leave for Belarus to wrestle
in a tournament. On the way home from there I am making a stop in New
York for a banquet at the New York Athletic Club. From New York I am
going to Scottsdale AZ to see my brother and wrestle in the Sunkist. I
am staying a couple of days after and then I will go to Vancouver to
wrestle in the Clansman. This may not be the smartest thing to do, but
I am crazy and I have set a goal to win all three of these tournaments.
I am pretty sure in 2007 alone I have been away from my home all but
2 1/2 months. I live on the road and I love. I calculated from today
through the Olympics next year I will only be home another 2 1/2 months.
As some of you might know, I grew up in Cleveland Ohio and I wrestled
for the great St. Edward High School. When I was a kid growing up the
Cleveland Indians were the laughing stock of Major League Baseball. By
the mid 1990s they started getting better and eventually made it to the
World Series only to lose to the Florida Marlins. The Major League
Baseball season is a very long season and there are not to many fans
who have the time or the will power to follow their favorite team the
whole season. Meet Donny Pritzlaff, Doug Schwab, and Jared Frayer.
The three of them are all die hard Boston Red Socks fans. Some how
they have the time to not only follow the Socks, but they also follow
the Yankees to see how they are doing (only out of hatred). This if
very funny to me because in wrestling these three guys are very intense
and this intensity also applies to the way they cheer for the Socks.
Out of the three of them Doug is the craziest, then I would put Donny,
then Jared. To get to the point, I am going to Belarus with both Jared
and Donny and now the Indians have to play the Socks for the ALCS. I
have to look in my closet for my Indians hat so I can wear it in
Belarus and taunt the Socks fans, Donny is going to hear it the most
because he is going to be my roommate. Well I have to go now and get
ready for practice, I will continue to write while I am overseas.
