Going Home
January 25, 2009
Well I haven't had much time to write or much to write about sincecoming to Krasnoyarsk so sorry about that. My hip still hurts prettybad and the team Doctor as suggested I get a MRI when I get home justto make sure there isn't a hairline fracture, bone chip, or if themuscle has torn away from the bone. The doctor thinks I may be out upto 6 weeks. When I first got here it was bruised and swollen so asthe swelling went down I thought it was getting better, but it wasactually getting more tender because the swelling was over… more »
Krasnoyarsk, Russia
January 20, 2009
So it's been a few days since I last wrote but it's been pretty busy over here. On the 17th I left Vladimavkaz and flew to Moscow to meet up with the US team. At midnight we left Moscow on an overnight flight to Krasnoyarsk. This is a very hard flight because it is about 5 hours long and there is a 4 hour time change. So rich now I am 12 time zones away from my home in Michigan. The first day we were here we had a light drill. I went with Mocco but he wasn't allowed to… more »
Going Live Against the Russians
January 15, 2009
Well after our day off we got back to training at 8am for our morning run and drill. In the afternoon we did some cross training and lifting exercises. In the evening I had been asked to wrestle Georgi Ketoev. I wrestled Ketoev in the Chicago Cup in 2007. I didn't do so well with him but I know I can beat him. Practicing with him though was not good for my moral. He out weighs me by a good 20 pounds right now, but I held my own. The important part is that I was able to wrestle the… more »
Russia Wrestling Culture
January 11, 2009
To answer some of the questions, right now this trip isn't costing me anything. USA wrestling is paying for it, I was planning on coming over here to wrestle in the Yariguin tournament at the end of the month so the airfare was already paid for. As for the food I has been great, good soups, meat, pasta, potatoes, eggs fir breakfast. The dinning experience has been different though. There is assigned seating how it goes I have no idea. There are 40 seats in the cafeteria and when we all walk in everyone sits down. A few wrestlers walk… more »
Russian training
January 10, 2009
Day 3:
well this is about the 10th time I have tried to write this blog. My email isn't working that well because I am in Vladikavkaz Russiatraining with the best wrestlers in the world. I have to keep this short so the email goes through. I am having a great experience and it's like wrestling in the world and Olympic championships everyday. The Ossetians have been very helpful and kind to me so far. I have counted in the wrestling room 6 world champions, 1 olympic champion, and 4 olympic medalist and one 5th place.
Day 7:
Well I… more »

Making it happen
March 13, 2008
Well folks it has been awhile a few months since I have written a blog. My last blog was on Thanksgiving when I was in France wrestling in a tournament. I was not pleased with the way I had been wrestling in October and early November and then I stepped it up. I wrestled a dual meet against Russia in New Jersey and I beat the number 5 ranked Russian wrestle in the final seconds of the 3rd period. I tweaked my knee so I sat out the NYAC tournament that weekend so I was ready for France. In the… more »
A French Thanksgiving
November 22, 2007
Well today was not the typical Thanksgiving I grew up knowing. I am in Nice, France and I spent today Not eating, and losing weight so I can wrestle tomorrow. I guess I can say I didnt miss out on all of the Thanksgiving festivities because I did have part of a turkey sub from Subway for lunch. It was easy making weight over here because they had a pretty good fitness club we were able to go to. Right now I am in my room trying to be quit because Sean Bormet and Ryan Churella a sleeping. I guess… more »
Road Warrior
November 14, 2007
Today I find myself on the road again. This morning I left Ann Arbor for the big city lights of New York City. Since I last posted a blog I wrestled in the Sunkist International tournament and then at the Clansman International tournament. Sunkist did not go as I would have liked but I knew going into the tournament I was going to have to scrap. I lost in the semis to Jake Herbert in a match that went three periods and ended in a me losing the clinch. Jake is very hard to wrestle because his motion is like… more »
Belarus
October 26, 2007
Here we go again.
Well the trip to Belarus was great. I wrestled alright for the first tournament of the season, but I came up short in the finals against a wrestler from Russia. I just want to say that I am getting sick and tired of placing 2nd this year. I was second in Belarus, the Pan Am Games, the World Team Trials, and Ukraine. Second place is not all that bad because it means I am doing some things right I guess, but I need to start winning everything. Right now I am on the… more »
