Thanksgiving

Here in New Hampshire we start the season before Thanksgiving. So last week we did our weight cert. This week we come back from Turkey Day and the kids are all getting on the scale and laughing, sighing, and shaking their heads. As we all did these wrestlers ate, ate and then ate some more. That is what Thanksgiving is all about. I happen to love this Holiday, because the main idea of the day is to eat as much as possible, then take a nap and eat again. Any way the kids came back a little heavy. The problem is this... They ate and ate but forgot that we asked them to get a workout in. They don't want to go out for a run when their older brother is sitting on his butt watching football. So today we had to work the turkey and the long weekend out of their system. To make a long story short practice ended with a kid puking up his leftover turkey sandwich all over the mat. Today wasn't any harder then any other day. The lesson here is that it takes a lot longer to get into shape then it does to get out of shape. Four days of inactivity and over eating can really take a toll on you. So if you are reading this and are thinking about winning a state title, then as soon as you are finished get up and go for a run, and hopefully your opponents are at home finishing up the leftovers. Season opener is a week from Wednesday. Keep your hips tight!
