Great 8 South Plainfield Tiger Tournament (#2)
WOW!!! That's about the best I can say after what I saw the boys do this weekend. That had to be some of the toughest wrestling I have seen out of these young bucks to date. Dean took first place, but the most impressive match of the day (for me) was my oldest son Charlie. He wrestled the toughest match I have EVER seen him compete in. Since the rule changed he wrestled what I called TRIPLE overtime and dug down deeper than I ever thought he could go to win the match 9-5. I have seen him wrestle hard before, but he went so far beyond his limits that it simply left me stunned and speechless...

He always says he loves the sport and just gets upset because he can't be perfect right away - - - I understand that, but I never want my boys to wrestle because they think it's what I want them to do, I want them to do it for the love of the sport and the level of dedication it takes to improve and compete. As a father I am proud of how deep he went to rise to a level that I didn't think Charlie could take himself to yet. As a coach I am amazed at the determination and heart he displayed to the very end - - - and as a wrestler I am impressed with the size of the fight in the dog...

An awesome, awesome job Charlie... |
