We headed up to Long Branch on the first nice sunny day in I don't know how long, the boys were ready to wrestle hard. Dean plowed through his bracket and took 1st, mainly because due to his weight in certain tournaments he gets thrown in with the REALLY little kids (4 and 5 years old). Dean has also progressed faster than we expected so for his benefit and the benefit of the other boys I think it's time we move Dean up in either in weight or division. Thought I would do a backlog of Dean and Charlie's short careers to date while we recoop from the Great 8 #3...probably will be out of order. Competition level was definately high in today's matches especially for Dean who wrestled at the Champ and Future Champ level today for the first time. Big brother Charlie lost a first rounder to some serious jitters (if you know Charlie it's understandable...) but battled back in the second round to record a fall at 3:00 of the match. Good competition all around today and the boys took it to another level...great job boys. more »

WOW!!! That's about the best I can say after what I saw the boys do this weekend. That had to be some of the toughest wrestling I have seen out of these young bucks to date. Dean took first place, but the most impressive match of the day (for me) was my oldest son Charlie. He wrestled the toughest match I have EVER seen him compete in. Since the rule changed he wrestled what I called TRIPLE overtime and dug down deeper than I ever thought he could go to win the match 9-5. I have seen him wrestle hard… more »

The boys headed up to Asbury Park for the Great 8 Kickoff Classic ready to wrestle and wrestle hard they did. Two tough matches for Dean and three REALLY tough matches for Charlie. In the end Charlie took a well earned second place but could have taken first (his loss was by one point). Charlie wrestles with a lot of heart and pure determination, while he is in his first year (as well as his brother) they both wrestle tough while they master their skills.
