We Are Leaving For Kazan Today

The trip has been great so far. Zeb and I have been able to get out and see a lot. Yesterday we went to red square and old arbot with the Kolesnikov's. I met Gennady Kolesnikov through facebook. he is an 18 year old wrestler from Moscow. He is very in to his training and knows a lot about freestyle wrestling. He and his brother picked us up and helped us get around Moscow. Unfortunaly, and you may have seen the video as Zeb has not turned his camera off the entire trip, they wanted to eat at McDonalds for lunch. I have been looking forward to eating Borsh for a year now and still have not had any this trip. As soon as I get off this computer, i will trek to the nearest restaurant and get some. Zeb and I have had a running joke about how he films everything, we call his coverages, shotgun coverages. Red square was fun. It was a lot like last year but being there is amazing. Everything is so big and it is kind of surreal to be in a place that you see in history books all the time. One thing I did not see last year was people standing in the center of Moscow, which is by Red Square, and throwing change. It is supposed to be good luck. Anyways, as soon as the person throws the change, several older women rush to pick it up. We have video of it if you would like to see. It is kind of crazy to me. We had a lot of fun last night. Zeb and I walked back to old Arbot and checked out the night life. It was weird because I felt safer then than the rest of the trip. Maybe it was because there were way fewer people. We met some new people and had an interesting time communicating. We did stay out way to late but that is fine because we will be in a train overnight tonight for 13 hours and I will be able to sleep well. I am super pumped about the tournament. i did find out that there is no internet at the flat we will be staying in at Kazan. We will have to go to an internet cafe to work. This will make things intesting as we will be at the tournament most of the day. Please do not rip our heads off if the coverage takes a few extra days. We will do our best. I am leaving so much out right now but will work on something while on the train. My stomach is telling me it is borsh 30 PM. Zeb says What's up. He will do a video blog later.

Joe, Well written description and very interesting. Avoid tainting such writing with blemishes the likes of "super pumped." Enjoy the borsh and vodka. Do not let them bury you. You are an embassador of good will, just as the late Rick Sandars was, but without the talent. God speed.

Joe you guys need to hook me up as your historian/cultural guide next time you go on one of these international journeys. Zebs rocking out the fun facts, but I'd love to be part of an international wrestling mission.

See the post below. If Kazan is a tough city, then do be careful. . .and do your best work, I can't wait to see it.

Joe,
I am interested to see how they start their younger kids off with wresltling and how it compares technically and systematically with some of the youth clubs and teams here in the US. Will you encounter younger clubs on your trip? I am very curious to see any differences. Thanks
