Patience, Nerve, Heart, Excellence. We need the Tap root on these very important variables. It's all about matchup's, and your will shall be done. Conditioning starts Monday, Gorilla Soccer, Touch Football, Boot Camp on steroids. In Wrestling season there is a new definition to Cleaning your Plate. Our goals are lofty, the road is frot with tennacious opposition. In order to get to the Top we will beat all comers down, step up onto their backs and look to the next value oriented goal. The Annapolis wrestling schedule is the toughest it has ever been. Deliberately set to break all… more »

All I can say my freinds is do your Worst and keep the Rubber on the Road. 170 BABY ! Learn something New. Open your Mind. Look at the other point of veiw. Prepare to be boarded. It seems as though a shadow hangs over our summer. Big plans, crazy schedules, and Large expectations trumpet loudly. The new Atheletic Entrance @ OW is going to be sweet. The hallmarks of Academic largeous, Activity driven empowerment(involevment), and a solid Athletic engagement are the hallmarks of a successful Education. These pieces guarantee success in raising young human beings with a rounded ability to handle what may come. The shadow I'm concerned with seems to come from the % of Young people who do get into these areas in High School and Middle school for that matter. Rough guess is… more »

314 opportunities until Team Districts 2010

Yea baby to have purpose, direction, challenge. The challenges are very pronounced, the very articulation will push all of us like we've never been pushed before. 17 Teams have joined our Division and16 have either gone north or south. That should stir things up fairly well. The echoes from our fans screams of joy in Battle Creek will forever roll in my mind. Definately would have had to have been there. I will someday ask about the folklore involved in the Richmond Wrestling Team as it rolls onto Hamblin Avenue. Hard Left and follow the excitement. Rockford probably has some… more »

States was just Plain Awesome

Battle Creek States is by far and away the most excellent trip in Michigan Wrestling. Prepare to bring the kitchen sink and frost the cupcakes or you will have your's handed to you. To have the opportunity to dance with the wolves and share in the just desserts. Slowly I turn around - Step by Step, Inch by Inch, Then I smack him... Niagara Falls. Individual States today baby, and Oh what an experience to see our straight eight on the floor of the Palace. Should be a lot of Fur flying and butt kicking to go around. Flo Out more »

Leagues is apon us. The thrill of it, the expectations built all season long. The team is here. As a famous fella once said, " It's about where the rubber hits the Road." I will stand with bent knee as I have never worked harder with others in a goal before in my Life. Thanks for the opportunity, Thanks for the sense of exhillaration as when many do their very best to attain Goal sets. Lord Jesus you have shown us the clear path to the road of life. Fill our hearts with your cares and places. Thanks again as… more »

Our All Area tournament Trophy was finally liberated. We did not win the Tourny with very much flare or style but we went out there and slugged our way to the finis. Twelve points is all the difference we could muster, and now we need to work toward Leagues. Our arch League foe will be host to us on Wednesday. We are both 4-0 in League, and keenly aware of each others strengths. The tiniest details are giant. The Basics are the difference between first and a change in "ch'i". Sound solid foundation, this is what we build our dreams… more »

Snow to the South

There is nothing better on a Snow day as a Wrestling Tournament. Alright you got me, how about two Tournaments. Both squads roll tomorrow. The holidays are past and the tempo is really sharpening. The work set forth two months ago on academics is producing growth. Just like setting our wrestlers on the mat the same formula is resident in academics. Fail to prepare and you are preparing to Fail. There is nothing as sad as a potential never developed. 41 Days to Districts, 23 opportunities to work on the Machines. What an awesome priviledge to work with inspired people.… more »

Finding your Zone

There are 56 days and the snow has melted abit. Just as everybody is settling down to a mid winters break and a remnant or two of football. Our battle plans are just begun. We need a solid week on our feet, we also need a solid week on excellent standup. We need a recommitment to the very nature of our journey, " Know yourself, know your enemy, and you will control 100 battles in 100 sorties. Remember to appreciate the scenenary along the way as the road is covered. The goal, the mountain, the unattainable measure. "It is not… more »

Probably the toughest day yet

There are 67 days to our Team District. The fella's were bouncing off of the walls today, Boss. Great day for battle. Two new old Heavies Wrestled off for the Dual meet tomorrow. Wrestle offs are without a doubt as tipfieing as the actual matches in a young season. Terror aboard flight 285 to Tittabiwasii, yeah something like that. Snow is falling in amounts to bring a probable delay to tomorrows festivities. The largest detriment to this young season has been a lack of grade point average for eleven of our rocks. In to each life a little rain must… more »

So 83 days and counting. Stretch, crawl, run, Make it, Heal, Measure three times cut once. Saw a really nice Two on One back toss this last week out of Virginia, JJ would say, "Looked like something Schultze woulda shown ya". Saw some exceptional Jordan D. This last summer I just happened to meet this very respectful youngman in a hospital clinic waiting room. His only pretense or should I just say excitement was that he was going up to wrestle for the University of Wisconsin Badger's. Laser beam focus, much like a very determined bunch out of Hawkeye-town. Say… more »

One Week of season practice under our Belts

November 22, 2008

Just like in a family, as the team gets more confident, the expectations begin to rise. As weight classes fill, elbow room becomes scarce and a little friction turns into drama. Oh how I missed this formula. My older boys Team made the Trip, "Team States"in his junior year . Values and morals that are taught to us as bean sprouts are tested in the fire of sibling rivalry become awaken in these journeys. It is so rare to really forge bonds and set goals and verify accomplishments in a Team atmosphere anymore. I will never forget the Hadad's, the… more »

The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men

Rumor has it that one of our Junior High Medalists, turned his grades around and will wrestle this year. What does a coach feel when a prodigal returns to the fold. Has your heart ever known heaven? Have your wrestlers ever really tasted victory? Are the lessons of today fully preparing them for tomorrow? Just asking the correct question in a time of need, will turn a dark gray cloud into your silver lining. Once you have your attitude right, work can progress in a more conducive manner no matter the goal. My Dad used to liken life as one… more »

The bricks and mortar of the next season are in place, I Am ready to weather a another two week Dead period. In this dramatic respite, Candidates will be chosen to lead this country. Family Plans for Thanksgiving festivities will be exacted. Even the winterizing chores need to be accomplished on the yard, before the white garment pushes sand in Mother nature's eye. Dare I say it - but Christmas is lurking. My heart is light, my head is confident, my opponent continue's to work. There really is not another activity in High School like Wrestling. It will use every… more »

The opponent was vanquised before they even set foot on the field. The Maple out front with it's remaining Crimson leaves are all but fallen, and the ones still hanging in there are definately spoken for. She'll be leaving the dryest summer in recollection behind behind her. 125 Days to District's Baby, Oh man the thrill is in the air. Even the meat loaf tasted extra good today. For the better part of seven years as our Wrastlers ran laps I would sing a little ditty for them to take it as they would. I goes something like this, The… more »

Our maple tree out front is dropping it's leaves everyday now. The weatherman says tomorrow will be cooler with a front originating out of Fargo. There are 130 days until Districts. Sounds like alot, i know better. Everyone needs to be on board for this voyage to be successful. There are some very determined adversaries in our path. I wouldn't have it any other way though. Our spirits are defined in the fire of battle, purified through the anvil of knowledge. Champions are born from within, let not your hammer fail. I as others do believe champions are built way… more »
