I am going to be the Host/Ambassador for Kutztown PA, totally excited about this opprotunity. They will arrive on Wednesday night, hopefully not too late for me to be able to meet them at the airport.
probably a little disappointing the way the year ended.? 5 of the 11 qualifiers, became state medalist.? We lost some very important matches on Thursday, which took us out of the team race early.?? The next two days were a constant battle to get back to where we belong.? We ended in 4th as a team 7.5 out of third and 30 out of 2nd.?? Two 3rd place medals, two 5th place medals and a 6th. ? ?
We qualified a school record 11 kids for the state tournament.? Brackets are up let's have a good, clean, healthy week of practice. ? ?
This should be a wild and eventful district tournament.? We have a pretty good shot of winning the tournament and qualifying a good number of kids to Omaha.? We have been focused on technique and winning the scrambles this week.? Trying to keep everyone healthy and motivated.? One last practice this week, and then three next week before State.? ? Since my last post many positives things are happening, we have won our last three tournaments, finsihing in the top 3 at all of our tournaments. 7-0 in confernce duals 11-1 currently with 3 to go. Middle School practice starts today, good luck to our futrue.
It's been a quick first week.? The young guys have came into the room and added good competition, and also a good work ethic.? Today is our alpha testing, so we'll know more later.? Also got news yesterday our senior leader and runner up last year will not get cleared for the season.? ACL injury in football won't be healed soon enough for contact sports. ? ?
So it begins, with many questions to be answered with some high expectations my 8th year of coaching is off to a start. Should be a pretty solid team, the new faces will be a spark to our team I have a feeling. First work out as a full group is today, hope they all work hard and stay healthy
Varsity football is 5-2 right now and as far as it looks on it's way to the playoffs, 9th football is 7-1 right now and has one left. Cross Country was conference runner-ups, hope all of this success we are having in the fall carries over to the winter.
Going on a visit to UNK with one of our wrestlers this Friday (10-16), then return to Kearney for USA wrestling meeting. 2 2 1/2 trips will not be fun, but it's all for the sport.
We had a great turn out for the fish fry on Friday. Fed about 150-160 people (orders) Very good fundraiser for us in a supportive community. Love to see it. Wrestlers going to Disney Duals were on hand talking to people and get support from businesses as well.
