Although Winning is the Goal You Must Focus on Something else to Really Explode Your Success....
I recently read a short quote about Selling that really stuck with me. It went something like this:
"To sell more don't focus on what and how you can sell your customer... But instead focus on what you can do and how you can HELP your customer.
By
doing that you will solve your customer's problems and flow right into
selling them naturally. The best salespeople are Super Problem Solvers.
Well
I got to thinking about my success in wrestling and lo and behold... I
wasn't focused on winning as much as I was focused on GETTING BETTER.
That's it. I was focused on what I could do to get better and how could I get better each day rather than focusing on the end result of Winning.
Simple... THE BETTER YOU GET... THE MORE YOU WIN!

As a neurologist that simple and powerful principle holds in my dealings with patients. My best success stories (if you ask my patients) are those where more than CURING an illness (that could be the WINNING part of the equation mentioned above), which is unfortunately rare in my specialty, strategies to help them solve everyday problems as they manage and cope with their illnesses are considered nearly as important for the patient (GETTING BETTER). Of course, I never lose sight of the goal to CURE my patients but my FOCUS on each encounter is to see if I can't help leave them feel or function a bit BETTER than they were before they saw me that day.
