This is a true story. When I was in Kindergarten I was friends with a kid named Lee…he moved during the year and we had a big party for him. He was like "Yeah???" I said "I have a great sense of facial recognition skills..my name Is Mike Krause we were buddies in Kindergarten" Guy...

asdfasdf It's the morning of the last day of the Olympics. I'm still devastated by what happened in Jake's seond match yesterday afternoon. There were a hundred different things going on that brought about the end result to Jake, which if you noticed - affected the whole US Team. I wanted to scream - but I was already screaming. I wanted to cry but I've been in disbelief since the moment it happened. I just know something terrible happened between the United States and the rest of the world. Unfortunately it wasn't in Jake's hand, the only pers...

Message #116 - "A Penny for Your Thoughts?"

Do You Really Know How Powerful you Are?..! What is real power? Is it Brute Force? Money? Influence? Size? Popularity? Your Position? Your Title? The # of People You Lead? ..... etc... All of us have the ability to INSTANTLY change the course of our lives. THAT"S RIGHT... INSTANTLY... What allows us to do that is given to all of us at birth and is with us throughout the rest of our lives. If fact it weighs only about 3 pounds but is responsible for everything that exists in this world and the universe... The 3 pound thing I'm talking about is o...

A Letter From Wes Wesley About The NCAAs

I do not know what a blog is Joe so I will write you a letter. Dear Joe, I have never competed in the NCAA tournament. I’m not sure if I have told you, but I was a 3 time champion of the Affton Quadrangular Tournament. It is the toughest tournament in the world. The Tablisi tournament is second and I think the JV division of the Affton Quadrangular tournament is third. (In case you didn’t know Joe, there are four teams in the Affton Quadrangular. “Angular” is a Greek word that means “four”.) Even though I nev...

Youth States this Month!

Youth States this Month!

Mike Krause

March 9, 2012, 3:11pm

My team has been training hard the last couple weeks.  By youth training I mean the "show and tell" portion of the year is over. I call out certain techniques and ask "Whos got this!!?" and pick a pair of kids to demonstrate. Then they drill the technique by themselves for a few minutes and then I have them do it as hard and fast as they can for :30 at a time. We call this National champ speed!! We also do chain wrestling drills.  Bottom man hits a stand up cuts fires a shot top man downblocks hits a go behind.  One man hits a he...

Chael Sonnen's NCAA Breakdown

If you don't know that the NCAA tournament is coming down the pike, you damn sure should know. Qualifying matches are done, the regular season behind us, but that’s only half of the battle; the greats will meet to compete on March 15th. In short, the war has begun. The rematch between Ramos and Oliver in scalding hot in everybody’s mind, but that is only the tip of the talent iceberg. There will be miles of hard-won wrestling between each competitor before that match-up is secured. Kellen Russell steamrolled after his loss at the La...

Having trouble beating a kid from the next town over??

Next time you wrestle him handfight hard the first period, push him around and pull his head to the mat. If he chooses to take a shot it'll most likely be a bad one. Be prepared to go extreme sick leg defense. We are NOT shooting the first period. If it end up 0-0 we are on track. Second period pick it up!!! fast feet and changing levels now is a the time for your number one takedown!  Your opponents throat will have already started to tighten up and his heart is definately racing!! The third period is yours! Pick up the pace!!!! Game plan...

5 Ways to Empower Your Athletes to Succeed

http://riotsportsmarketing.com/2011/12/5-ways-to-empower-your-athletes-to-succeed/ As coaches, we often want our athletes to be self-motivated, driven and to hold themselves accountable for their own actions. We want this because we know that it will not only help us win more but also make our lives easier with fewer headaches and hand-holding. Rarely, however, do we set them up for success in the ways that we should. We train our athletes at practice and send them off to deal with the world and all if it’s temptations and time-wasters wi...
