Wade Schalles is one of if not the most dominant high school and collegiate wrestler ever. He was known for his uncanny pinning ability. By his senior year in high school he pinned every wrestler he faced all the way through the state tournament where he pinned the returning state champion. In college he was "only" a 2x NCAA Champion due to technicality issues in his eligibility.
Wade Schalles was on his to dominate his way through the 1976 Olympics when he broke his neck in the Olympic trials finals.

Wade coached at Old Dominion for quite awhile. His pin of previously unbeaten (career) defending champ John "Bimbo" Chatman 40 years ago for his lone PIAA title (or place) has to be the greatest HS match of all time in PA. Saw him win his first NCAA title at Maryland 1972. | |

I know he took a silver medal in the world cup in Toledo Ohio in 1977 and another in 1978. Who has beaten him? Why did he not wrestle in the world championships?
