James Gruenwald was raised in Wisconsin where he started wrestling. He was introduced through a friend after a fight when he was about 11 years old. (He got beat on the ground). His High School years were up and down with wrestling. James won his first title as a junior but lost to Dennis Hall as a senior. It was James' first of many battles with Dennis Hall. James became a multiple World Team Member and 2x Olympian.
