Gray Simons is considered one of the best technicians of all time. He started early in his high school career under the legendary Coach Billy Martin, Sr. of Granby High School in Norfolk Virginia. He was a state champ there and went on to Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania. There Gray won 3 NCAA Titles (No Athlete at the time could wrestle in the NCAA Championships as a freshman) and was OW twice.
Gray in 1960 represented the USA in the Olympics in Freestyle and took 5th during his sophomore year of college.
