Ohio State Wrestling Suffers 26-12 Loss to No. 12 Penn State

Buckeyes J Jaggers, Chris Vondruska and Mike Pucillo garner wins

COLUMBUS , Ohio ? The Ohio State wrestling team lost, 26-12, to No. 12 Penn State Friday at Rec Hall in State College, Pa. The Buckeyes (5-4; 1-1 Big Ten) received wins from J Jaggers, No. 16 Chris Vondruska and No. 3 Mike Pucillo.

After the Buckeyes dropped their first four bouts, Jaggers (So., Northfield, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) got the Scarlet and Gray on the board, pinning Bryan Heller in 2:05 for six team points at 141 pounds. Vondruska (Sr., Lakewood, Ohio/Hofstra) and Pucillo (Fr., Cuyahoga, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) then scored a pair of decisions at 165 and 184 pounds, respectively. Winning his 21st match of the season, Vondruska was down 2-1 in the third period before scoring a takedown and earning the riding time advantage to win 4-2. Pucillo, now 14-0 on the season, never trailed, scoring an escape in the second period and adding a takedown in the third session compared to Mike Ward's lone escape, to win 3-1.

Will Livingston (Fr., Stillwater, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) nearly completed the comeback against fifth-ranked Mark McKnight. Down 7-2 at the end of the second period, Livingston cut the deficit to 10-7 towards the end of the match. The one-minute riding time gave Livingston the additional point, but it was not enough, as McKnight won 10-8.
