 Former Rutgers wrestling coach John Sacchi remembers McLean as "the kind of kid that you'd say, 'That's how I want my son to grow up.' He was a wonderful person, everybody liked him." McLean was working at the University of Kansas Hospital as an assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Although he had only been there for eight months he was asked to head up an expansion of the hospital's spine program. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Jackie McLean, and his brother Justin McLean. Wakes will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge, N.J. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, N.J. For more information or stories about Jim: Jim McLean |

In the short amount of time that I knew Jim, He became more than just a colleague. Jim was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back or the last bite of his sandwich if you needed it. Jim was the kind of guy that always went above and beyond.
For example last year when Jim and I went to a wrestling tournament at Northwestern University to watch the World Greco Championships, he gave up his seat for a little boy that didn't want to sit on his dad's lap and was crying. Just a perfect example of Jim's acts of unselfishness.
Jim will never be forgotten and always be remembered in our hearts for all the great things he did.
I love you. May God rest your soul and may you rest in peace.
