Ohio Leads Team Race After Day 1 Of Junior Freestyle
In a bit of a surprise, Ohio leads PA, IL, and everyone else after day one of Junior freestyle.
Pennsylvania, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa were the main teams being talked about for the Junior freestyle team title, but it’s actually Ohio in the “lead” after day one. I put lead in quotation marks because there have zero actual team points scored. Only All-Americans score points, but the lead is based on front-side wrestlers.
Junior freestyle resumes tomorrow morning at 10 am EST with the round of 16 and consolations.
State | Front Side | Back Side |
Ohio | 21 | 16 |
Pennsylvania | 20 | 21 |
Illinois | 20 | 16 |
Wisconsin | 15 | 17 |
Minnesota | 15 | 5 |
Iowa | 14 | 21 |
Indiana | 14 | 9 |
Florida | 12 | 6 |
California | 11 | 19 |
Oklahoma | 10 | 18 |
New Jersey | 7 | 14 |
Washington | 7 | 6 |
Michigan | 6 | 6 |
Nebraska | 6 | 5 |
Kansas | 6 | 4 |
Missouri | 5 | 13 |

The round of 16 hasn’t even been wrestled yet, so a lot can still happen, but this team race is already fun.
