USA Wrestling names Joe Russell new freestyle developmental coach
USA Wrestling has selected George Mason head coach Joe Russell as their next freestyle developmental coach. Russell will work under national freestyle coach Bill Zadick as part of the USA Wrestling national freestyle staff.
Russell will coach with USA Wrestling's age-group men's freestyle World Teams, serve as a coach for the freestyle resident athletes at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and serve as an assistant coach with the athletes on the senior national team.
The position has recently been held by Brent Metcalf, Brandon Slay, and even coach Zadick himself. In 2013, Russell was named USAW Greco-Roman coach of the year and served as the coach for the Cadet world championships in Serbia. He has also been instrumental in the creation of the University national duals.
