Seven Freestyle Wild Cards Issued For U.S. World Team Trials
USA Wrestling has combed through the list of wrestlers who went through the application process that met the criteria to be included in the World Team Trials and have issued seven wild card spots.
Among the wild card selections are former World Team Members Angel Escobedo and Jimmy Kennedy. Escobedo was fifth at the World Championships in 2013 and placed eighth at this year's U.S. Open. Kennedy did not compete at the Open, but the 2014 World Team Member will be Madison, Wisconsin competing for another spot on the team at 65kg.
Joey McKenna, a 2014 Junior World silver medalist, also recieved one of the seven allocations and will be competing at 61kg. Adam Coon, who was on both the Junior Freestyle and Greco Roman world teams in 2014, was granted the wild card at 125kg. He competed in both style at the Open and came away with a third place finish in Greco.
