Jake Herbert (+135) vs Ed Ruth (-120)
We've got Jake Herbert as the slight underdog, Ruth as the slight favorite in tonight's bout. No disrespect to Herbert, the Ninja, but until someone unseats Ruth from atop the US 86kg ladder, he is THE MAN to beat in our country. He's also an experienced Flo Premier League competitor, and he's shown that he can absolutely handle a high-pace nine minute FPL match. 

Points Scored in the 1st Period of the Herbert/Ruth Match: O/U Set at 8.5
Sounds crazy, right? Of course you'll take the under? Not so fast! We're talking about Jake Herbert and Ed Ruth here. Both competitors have NO CHILL. They attack and attack and attack. Furthermore, Jake Herbert basically promised us that "people can expect to see a lot of explosions, a lot of scrambles, a lot of action and a lot of points," in the FPL V main event. We'll hold him to that.

If you took the over on the previous line, then taking the over here is a no brainer.  We saw 17 points on the board in the Ed Ruth vs Keith Gavin FPL II match. Let's see what happens when the Double Leg Ninja hits the mat at FPL V! 

Chris Honeycutt (+150) vs Tyler Caldwell (-140)
Have to give Caldwell the edge here simply because he's been wrestling lately. Honeycutt went the MMA route post-college, so even though he is a superb wrestler (2012 NCAA finalist) and slightly larger than Caldwell (he wrestled 197lbs in college, Caldwell wrestled 165lbs), we're going tag Caldwell, a University World Champion, as the favorite. 

Scoreless 1st Period In the Honeycutt/Caldwell Match (+300)
Think of this match as the inverse of the Herbert/Ruth match. Tyler Caldwell has gotten way too good over the years at controlling the pace of a match.  Even in losses, he keeps the match close (eg. he lost to Dake 2-0 in '13 NCAA semi's). Chris Honeycutt is fairly dynamic on his feet, but he's going to have one hell of a time trying to get through Caldwell's handfighting and savvy takedown defense. All this said, you have to expect that somebody gets a first period takedown, right? I mean they are wrestling three minute periods...
