Herbert vs Ruth Slated for FPL 5 Pre-NCAA's

The past vs the present! World silver medalist, Olympian and 2x NCAA Champion Jake Herbert will be making his Flo Premier League debut at FPL 5 on March 17th, 2015.  His opponent? None other than fellow World Team member and top-rated FPL 190lber, Ed Ruth.  The two wrestlers will headline a unique Flo Premier League event held just two days before the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Missouri.

Herbert, who dominated the US 84kg weight class from 2009-2012, officially made his return to international competition this past October when he entered (and placed in) Russia's Intercontinental Cup. It seems that after a two year layoff from the sport, the "Double Leg Ninja" has caught the Olympic bug and will be training freestyle through the 2016 Games held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

"I am beyond excited," said Jake Herbert. "To beat the best, you have to become the best. I love having challenges like Ed. He will bring out my inner most ninja...and the better he is...the better I have to become to win. "

Herbert will have his hands full though. He'll come into the bout an underdog vs 2014 World Team member, Ed Ruth.  Ruth, America's top rated 86kg wrestler, beat Keith Gavin at FPL 2 and is anticipating another opportunity to shine in the Flo Premier League and compete against Jake Herbert:

"I'm very excited to wrestle against someone who's so seasoned in the sport of wrestling."

NCAA finalists Tyler Caldwell and Chris Honeycutt will face off in the FPL 5 co-main event. Like Ruth, Tyler Caldwell continues to progress in the sport of freestyle and is seeing his best successes to date, including winning a University World Championship in 2014.

"I'm loooking forward to March 17th. I am excited to go a hard 9 minutes with a tough opponent. I'm going to take Honeycutt into deep waters," said Caldwell.

And Chris Honeycutt...well Chris Honeycutt's just been beating people up lately.  The 2x Edinboro All-American continues to make a name for himself in MMA and is fresh off a February 13th TKO victory in the prestigious Bellator MMA fight league.

FPL 5 will take place at St. Louis’ Union Station on March 17th, directly following the MO Border Brawl. Fans attending the 2015 NCAA tournament in St. Louis can buy tickets for the event at www.cagetix.com/mbb while fans at home will have the opportunity to see both FPL matches LIVE on Flowrestling.
