We all know the basics of stocks: Sell when it’s high, buy when it’s low. This simple Virginian gets it, I assume you guys do. So I wanted to try my own stock report. Guys whose stocks are at an all time high, I’ll recommend you sell. If you think a guy will out-perform current expectations, you need to consider buying them up. Enough of that, lets get into it. There are more guys I’d rather buy stock of than sell, and this reflects just that.

Dylan Alton: Buy. People have been selling this guys stock for the last 2 years. He didn’t forget how to wrestle, he hasn’t been healthy. Is he healthy now? We don’t know, but the point is he’s an excellent wrestler who many have given up on. He’s worth buying a few shares dirt cheap. Worst case scenario he’s the guy he was last year and qualifies but doesn’t come close to placing. There’s the chance he returns to some semblance of his former glory, in which case this dirt-cheap stock soars close to the value it had post-Freshman year. Buy up on Alton and he could make you a wealthy man!

Josh Kindig: Sell. If you bought stock at this time last year, you’ve seen it soar big time. Flash back to last year: Kindig had fallen to Maple, Houdashelt and Dardanes. He since went on to make the NCAA Finals and he’s undefeated and his stock will never be higher than it is right now. He’s probably taking a loss here at least to Houdashelt who has dominated him on multiple occasions. A loss to Villalonga isn’t out of the question, though he’s the favorite there. I don’t see another run to the NCAA finals. In short: Returning finalist, undefeated, not likely to duplicate. Run to your nearest broker and sell and get dat paper!


Tyler Wilps: Sell. He’s a returning AA and is as solid as they come, however, he’s getting dropped into an absolute meat-grinder at the Scuffle. Kokesh, Brown, Butler, Weatherman, Mahomes, Nickal, etc. As it currently stands he’s a returning conference champ and All American who has essentially only lost to the “big 4” at the NCAA level and has beaten anybody else. However, he’s now in a brutal conference with Butler and Epperly. So not only is duplicating his conference championship going to be tough. He may be in a similar fight to find his way on the podium as he was in last year.  He’s a 5th year Senior, he is who he is at this point (excellent, but possibly plateaued). The stock won’t increase in value at this point.

Russell Parsons: Buy. Based on the release from the Scuffle he’s a definite buy low. The guy has notched some big wins already over Brian Murphy and Anthony Perrotti. It still feels like he’s under the radar. While the loss to Staudenmeyer raises slight concerns, I err towards the guy with legit wins and a loss to someone as tough as Staudenmeyer isn’t so bad. This is a very safe buy. Not going to bite you, and might not necessarily yield a high return, but still you’ll be glad you did.

Adam Coon: Buy. I’ll be the first to admit it’s been rough from Big 10’s to this point, but it’s still Adam Coon. I think he’s a victim of Coaches doing their homework on Adam and figuring out somethings that give him problems. If you can avoid his underhook and get to a high crotch, you can finish on him. There’s a portion of the blueprint. It’s still very difficult to execute but guys are learning. Now it’s time for the pendulum to swing back the other way. Coon will adjust to everyone else’s adjustments soon. Maybe that starts at Scuffle, maybe it’s a little later on, but at some point this year he’ll figure it out and return to that old form and have similar success. Not many guys out there with wins over Gwiaz, Nelson, Telford (twice) and Felix. This stock has more upside than the Alton stock, but you’ll have to pay a bit more for it. I think this will be worth every penny!

Blaise Butler: Sell. I know, Blaise is my guy. Been a fan of his for awhile now, but I don’t think his stock is getting any higher than it is right now. A win over Storley, a great effort against Kokesh, people everywhere have been buying Butler stock. It’s with good reason as Blaise is legit, but he was someone who struggled with consistency last year. As I said with Wilps, he’s in a meat-grinder of a conference (though it’s no Big-10, it’s brutal) and he’s getting dropped into a loaded Scuffle field. If he finishes outside the top 4 it really wouldn’t be that much of a shocker. With three as his likely ceiling at this tournament and the depth of guys here with Weatherman, Mahomes, Nickal, etc it’s possible we see him take a step back (without really performing poorly).

Mark Grey: Buy. He hasn’t looked great this year, but you can’t bury someone with this guy's skill set. He’s going to come in as a 9 or deeper seed at the Scuffle probably. I’m buying up all that stock. Maybe he’s not healthy, maybe he’s not great at 141, but I know that he’s good and can do better. I’m not sure his stock is super low like Alton, but it’s low. By for 5 bucks and sell for 10 a week later after he turns in a solid Scuffle performance!

Gabe Dean: Buy. 2 losses at CKLV, a SV win over Vic Avery and everyone’s nervous and worried about Gabe Dean. Maybe he’s been scouted better. That is possible. He’s not incredibly diverse on his feet, but he’s still got a few excellent attacks. People are more wary of his re-attacks now and they are using his constant forward pressure against him. I’ve seen him develop his Freestyle game quickly and make adjustments from JR FILA to JR WTT’s. I think a similar adjustment can be made here. Dean stock shouldn’t be but so low, but it may never be this low again. I think CKLV will be a blip on the radar. He’s dropping into a super loaded field at the Scuffle with the 1, 2 and 3 guys in the country all there as well as Willie Miklus. People may be dumping their stock all the way up til the Scuffle starts. Buy it up and reap the benefits Friday night and beyond.

There's obviously more I could get into and don't perceive my selling of stock as me being a ‘hater’ or disliking said wrestler. It’s just my view of their perception now, and how I see it changing over time.  Comment below or tweet @CPyles8 any guys whose stock I should be buying or selling!
