Headlee-McKee at 132 for WNO
Headlee-McKee at 132 for WNO
After a few years of working their way up the ladder, AC Headlee and Mitchell McKee 'have arrived.'
The top 132lber in the country, Headlee has run of a string of great performances over the last six months. It started with a win over 2x Super 32 and FloNationals Champ Sam Krivus at the state tournament in March.
Headlee followed that up with a 3rd place performance at FloNationals with wins over this year's Fargo Greco Champ, Will Koll, and 3x Missouri State Champ, Jaydin Clayton.
The momentum continued in Fargo Freestyle where Headlee again placed 3rd, losing only to the eventual Champ, Tommy Thorn (MN), and posting consecutive wins over State Champ Cameron Kelly (OH), State Runner-up Mike Magaldo (NJ), State Champ Micheal Cook (ID), and the current #2 in the country, Keegan Moore (OK).
As good as that sustained success has been, Mitchell McKee had what was perhaps the most impressive summer of anyone in the country.
His run started at JR Duals where he posted a 7-0 record in FS with wins over nationally ranked Lincoln Olson (MI), Taylor Lamont (UT), Kyle Akins (IL), and then #1-Kaid Brock (OK).
McKee kept the magic going in high school's grandest of stages. At Fargo, he'd take our four more ranked opponents including Top 3's Chaz Tucker (NJ) and a sterling come-from-behind win over Brock again.
For Headlee it's been his sustained consistency. For McKee, it's his sensational summer. And no the stage is set for a showdown at Who's #1.
